Cristina & Nash
"You're such a baby, Cristina!" Nash taunted. He always does this to me! He's so mean, ever since we were 9, were 16 now.
"I hate you." I grunted, walking away.
We were at the playground - don't judge, I'm skylynn's babysitter and Nash happened to come home early right as I was about to head to the park with her.
Nash had just dared me to climb on top of the monkey bars, but since I'm terribly scared of heights, I said no. Now here we are.
"What else is new?" He yelled after me. I joined Skylynn over at the swings where she pumped her legs.
"You're good at this." I smiled at her. Skylynn grinned and continued swinging.
"Hey, Sky, show Cristy how you can get on top of the monkey bars!"
Skylynn grinned, even wider, and quickly stopped the swing (with the help of Nash).
I knew I should've just gone home and let Nash take care of her. Curse me and my need for money!
"Look, Cristy!" Skylynn's nickname for me was Cristy because she couldn't say Cristina well enough.
And there the four-year-old sat. On top of the monkey bars, no problem at all. She even swung herself down, with no help at all.
"You should try! It's so fun." Sky gave me a toothy grin.
"Um, no thanks." I murmured.
"Yeah, Sky. She's too scared, she's a baby." I. Hate. Him!
"No, I bet she's not, Nash. She just doesn't want to."
"Then prove it, Cristina."
I can't disappoint Sky.
So I stepped forward. I climbed the latter, truly I was only about 3 feet off the ground right now and I already felt sick. I just don't work well with heights.
One time, my dad put me on his shoulders as a child and I threw up on his head.
I swung my legs up and lifted myself on top. Then I made the mistake of looking down. I was now about 6 feet off the ground.
I couldn't even imagine myself being tall...I'd probably be scared of my own height. Good thing I'm 4'11 (#shortpeopleprobs)
Oh gosh. I couldn't even find myself to throw up, that's how scared I was.
"S-see." I stuttered.
Sky began clapping but then she stopped. "My friend is here! I'm going to play with her!" Nash watched her run away to her friend. Meanwhile, I kept trying to get down but the equipment kept shaking. It was so scary.
"N-Nash, I'm s-stuck." I murmured. I couldn't even focus on being embarrassed. Right now, I was only focused on not falling and dying. Or breaking my head open. Or my neck. Or my legs. Or any other body part.
"Are you okay, Cristina? You're really red..."
"No I'm not okay! I-i don't know how to get down."
Nash bit his lip.
Nash's POV-
"Umm,"
Would I be leading her on if I helped her down? Actually, I'm not worried about leading her on. I'm worried about her realizing how I actually feel about her...
"Let me help." Screw it. I like her and I need to help her down before she starts crying from fear.
I stood in front of her, on the ground of course. "I'll catch you."
"Like I'll trust you." She scoffed with tears watering her eyes.
Man, does she really hate me that much? I guess I did pressure her into doing this, when she clearly did not want to.
Gosh I'm such an idiot.
"I promise I won't let you fall." She was shaking by now.
She carefully made her way to the edge of the bar, but then stopped abruptly.
"What's wrong?"
"It's shaking?" I looked at some kids who were jumping on the equipment attached to the monkey bars. That was the source of the shaking. I politely asked the children to stop shaking it for a minute or two.
"Alright, it's okay now. No more shaking. All you have to do is jump into my arms." Oh, how cliche that sounded.
She inched a little bit at a time off of the monkey bars.
"Here I go." And then she jumped in my arms.
I caught her, just like I promised. But I didn't let her go. I couldn't now that I was looking into her still slightly watered green eyes.
They were beautiful.
I couldn't hold it anymore.
"I love you."
"What?" That's not the best reaction. But the reaction I was expecting.
"I tease you because I like you, Cristina. I-I - ya know what? I'm sorry. I shouldn't have told you, it was-"
But I was cut off by Cristina giggling and putting her hand over mine. "Incredibly sweet." She grinned. "Listen, Nash. This was all really sudden, yet sweet. I don't know if I like you, because I never really let myself even think about you that way." That's understandable, i would taunt her all the time. "But give me a few days to think about returning your feelings."
" I can do that," I smiled. No I can't, but I have to.
**7 years later**
As I watched Cristina walk down the aisle in that beautiful white dress and Skylynn tossing flowers all around in front of her, I was indescribably happy.
My wedding day with the love of my life.
"Do you, Nash Grier, take Cristina _(her last name)_ to be your beloved wedded wife?"
I couldn't help but smile at the thought of Cristina being my wife. "I do."
"Do you, Cristina _(her last name)_, take Nash Grier to be your lovely husband?" (A/N Sorry i don't know what wedding receptionists actually say, and this isn't a professional story so I didn't bother looking it up.) Cristina smiled too. "I do."
"You may kiss Cristina Grier." I did not waste yet another second, I leant forward, leaning my head down a bit, to connect my lips with my wife; Cristina Grier.
