Elijah, Marcel, and I walked through the Algiers of New Orleans.
"We cannot trust Davina with the stake," I said as we walked side by side.
Marcel sighs as he crosses his arms, "The stake is safe. Davina won't use it on Klaus if it would kill me."
"Of course, she has no reason whatsoever not to use it on me," Elijah says sharply as he glares at Marcel.
He smiles at Elijah, "I guess you better behave!"
Elijah raises an eyebrow at Marcel, "And how long before someone else should make this discovery? What if it falls into enemy hands?"
"Huh. I'll get her to give the stake back! Alright? Just give me some time," Marcels says with furrowed eyebrows.
"If we give you more time, who's to say the stake won't be taken?" I inquired.
Elijah nods his head, "Unfortunately, Marcel, unlike these wretched souls that you recruit here, your promises do little to inspire my faith. One way or another, Davina will comply."
In frustration, Marcel sighs, "Look. Hey, do you ever wonder why your family has so many enemies? It's because you make stupid moves like this! It really makes me wonder how the hell I ever survived you people."
Elijah pauses in thought before speaking, "I don't fault you for your suspicion, nor Davina for her contempt. That does not alter our present dilemma. She has that stake. I want it back."
"Tell us where she is. We won't hurt her unless she is uncooperative. We need to get the stake back," I spoke in an assertive tone.
"Okay. But I am coming with you," Marcel said after thinking.
We got in the car and began to drive to the French Quarter. Marcel was on the phone with Davina as we drove.
"I never said I had it," Davina said in annoyed tone.
With a sigh, Marcel replied, "The thing is, Elijah thinks you do. Matter of fact, he's convinced."
"Well, let Elijah think what he wants to think," She responded.
Marcel's tone changed, "You're not safe, D. Anyone who's ever wanted to kill an Original is gonna be coming after you."
"Fine. Let them try."
I snorted at her reply. Davina may be a strong witch, but she cannot handle hundreds of old vampires. There is a difference between bravery and stupidity.
"D, come on! Just tell me where you are, "When she is silent, He continues. "Hey, we can talk about this!"
"I'm at Rousseau's. Don't bother coming. I'm leaving now," Davina angrily hung up the phone.
Elijah and Marcel share a look before Elijah drove faster to the Quarter. I sighed. Don't you just love being the third wheel?
After parking the car, Elijah jumps out of the car and dashes inside Rousseau's. I was right on his tail. Inside the bar, hearts were dropped on the floor and deceased werewolves lied on the floor.
An older man was about to feed on Davina. Before he could feed from her, Elijah pushes him off of her and into the wall. When the man turned around, his identity was revealed.
"Father?" Elijah questioned in shock.
I stood solid as I looked at the man in terror. He was alive.
Mikael smiled devilishly, "Hello, son. I'd hoped to see your brother first, but we have some unfinished business as well."
Elijah lunges at his father and the two begin to fight. My legs finally began to move as I dashed over to Davina.
"Are you okay?" I asked quickly as I kneeled beside her.
She nodded her head but I could hear her heart hammering in her chest. Marcel ran inside and joined Davina and I.
"We're getting out of here," He said as he held Davina's arm.
Davina's blue eyes go wild, "No! Marcel, I need my bracelet. I can use it to control him."
Marcel and I look over and see a bracelet beside a dead body.
I turn to Marcel and nod my head, "I got you."
I get up and turn to Mikael and Elijah. I could feel myself shaking just at the thought of attacking the Vampire Who Hunts Vampires. Mikael had the upper hand as he fought his son. He pushed the tip of the stake into Elijah's chest.
Elijah screamed in pain as the stake penetrated his skin.
"No!" I yelled as I grabbed Mikael by the shoulders and ripped him from Elijah.
Mikael turns to face Davina and Marcel, as I do the same. As Mikael flashes over to Davina to attack her, she slips on her bracelet.
"STOP! Go back, NOW," Davina shouts as she holds out her bracelet in front of her.
With a sigh, Mikael reluctantly dashes back to wherever he came from.
We all stared at Davina who just shook her head and leaves. After registering what just happened, I hugged Elijah tightly. That could have been the end.
When we pulled apart, Elijah questioned, "Something to say?"
I turned to see who he was talking to.
It was Kaleb who still seemed shocked, "Not me, mate. Not a bloody thing."
"Kaleb?" I asked with widened eyes.
He sent me a small smile which ended up making me smile.
"This is Kaleb?" ELijah asked, looking Kaleb up and down.
I nodded my head and rolled my eyes, "Yes."
"We better get going," Elijah says before offering me his arm.
I smiled at Elijah before agreeing, "Sure."
I said goodbye to Marcel and Kaleb and then we left for the compound. When we arrived home, we joined Niklaus in the wine cellar.
"It is worse than e thought," Niklaus said as we entered the room.
As Niklaus gulps his drink, I nod my head, "I'll say."
"I met the witch, Cassie. I studied her-- her presence, the way she carried herself, the fervor with which she voiced her hatred of our kind. I looked into that girl's eyes, and, I swear to you, she's not just guided by our mother. She is our mother," Niklaus says with a long sigh.
"Give me that," I say as I take a swig of Niklaus's drink.
"What is happening?" Elijah asks as he looks at Niklaus with a traumatized expression.
Niklaus picks up his speed as he becomes even more furious, "I'm going to kill her. I will boil her bones and feed them to the dogs, if that's what it takes."
"Niklaus--" Elijah attempts to interrupt him but fails.
"What? What could possibly be more important than the return of our mother?" Niklaus asks with wild eyes.
Elijah looks at me with emotionally exhausted eyes. I shook my head and took a long sip.
He sighs before explaining, " ...Our father. I saw him standing there in the flesh as you do now. He was enslaved with some spell cast by Davina. He holds the stake. If she chooses to release him..."
Niklaus pauses and is clearly shocked, but appears to be even more determined, "Well, then there's only one question we need to ask, isn't there? Which of our parents do we kill first?"
Sorry that I posted a day late! With school comes soccer and lacrosse practice, as well as meetings! I am trying to get back into the stride of everything. Thanks so much for all the support!
