Shivani’s POV

Against my wishes, I grudgingly took small steps towards...hell. Maintaining a safe distance from Mr. Dasher, I sat down, throwing my bag on the floor.

“Hey! Welcome to the Paradise!” The boy in front of me turned and exclaimed.

Having no clue about what he was saying, I asked with a puzzled look,

Paradise?

“Yeah! Actually, this column belongs to our friends’ group... And it’s like Paradise...on Earth!” He said and grinned.

“Oh,” I said. But it’s just the opposite for me... Hell. Right now I so missed my friends back in Kolkota. Yes, that’s where I am from. We also used to have a whole column in our class where only our friends used to sit.

Suddenly I realized that I didn’t know the name of the person I was talking to. Wanting to make small talk, I asked,

“So what’s your name?” I managed to give him a weak smile.

“It’s Shivam... And my friends call me...Shivam only; Don’t mess with me name, okay?”

I chuckled, and was about to say ‘okay’, when the girl sitting next to Shivam turned around and said—

“Don’t listen to him—Call him Shiva!” and she gave me a wink. For this, she got a smack on the arm from Shivam and she uttered an “Ouhh..that hurt!”

“Good! Now you know better not to mess with my name!” Shivam said, sticking out his tongue, and then turned front.

“Anyways, Shivani... He’s full to CRAZY. I m Shahina, by the way.” The girl said.

“Nice to meet you,” I managed to say when Ma’am stood up to teach, and Shahina turned front immediately. The first period was Geography...Boring.

After the class, I heaved a sigh of relief on having a look at my time table—I did not have a single class for an hour. Cool! Perks of being a Commerce student! I started packing my bag, wondering how to utilize my free time when everyone sitting in my column stood up, moving outside. That’s when Shahina made eye contact with me and asked,

“Hey, Shivani! Why don’t you join us?”

“Umm... Won’t your friends mind?” I asked.

“Nuh.. It’s no big deal. C’mon!”

“Umm okies!” I said, and happily tagged along. Better to have some company rather than sit alone.

“So where are you guys headed to?” I asked Shahina, on our way to I-don’t-know. The rest of the guys were walking in front of us, so only me and Shahina were in the last.

“Canteen,” she simply said.

Once in the canteen, we all took a seat at a table in the middle of the room. I sat next to Shahina, with Shivam on my right. Satwik was next to Shivam and next to him was Sonali. Next to Shahina was Kia and in between Kia and Sonali were two guys whose names I didn’t know yet. Once seated, we called the waitress. Yeah they had had waiters and waitresses in this school’s canteen. Cool right?

“So I know everyone’s names here, except you two,” I started, gesturing towards the two guys sitting in between Kia and Sonali.

“I’m Arjit.”

“And I’m Sarthak.”

“Okay... And I am Shivani—Though I guess you guys already know that!” I said, smiling.
