12:20 pm.

48..49..50..51

51 peas lay on the tray in front of me. 51 isn't that much but i'd much rather prefer 20. that seems like a nice spoonful. not too much. that's all i need. i mean i didn't even mention the orange sitting next to them, or the so-called healthy juice in the middle. i mean, this lunch really was plenty. maybe ill even splurge and have a few bites of the pizza. maybe four or two, yeah two sounds alright.

"earth to aspen?" i was snapped out of my thoughts when alisonn put her hand atop my tray where i was looking, trying to get my attention. i guess she was trying to tell me something.

"god what were you even doing? counting your peas again i see." she chuckled at her joke that i didn't find very funny.

"yeah aha." my response was short like it usually is. i know she means well. she doesn't understand how hard it is for me to not count the peas on my plate or calculate the calories i was about to consume. she never asked or tried to figure out why i do these things. not many do and i was perfectly fine with that. despite her not being the greatest friend, she was one of my best friends. so i just ignored her most times.

"hey, you gonna eat that?" alisonn asked, pointing at the greasy pizza in front of me. i shrugged and handed it to her. she instantly took a bite.

"thanks babes." she said with a mouth full of pizza. i nodded.

12:35 pm

15 minutes had passed and i had already eaten all my peas, a few slices of my orange, and even managed to down all my juice. i'm thankful for alisonn now. i would have felt disgusting if i had eaten some pizza too.  after exiting the cafeteria we went to the school bathroom. alisonn had to pee.

alisonn wobbled over to a stall with her legs crossed.

"jesus. i drank too much today." she yelled. i chuckled at her regretful voice.

i looked in the mirror. admiring my perfectly painted on makeup and my curled brown hair. my eyes traveled down my body until i got to my stomach i sighed grabbing and pulling at it. gross.

"oh my god, seriously aspen you aren't fat." allison said, obviously annoyed. i must've said that out loud. oops.

i was about to disagree when the bell cut me off.

"i have history. kill me now." alisonn whined as she put finger guns to her head and mouthed "pew".  she opened the door, leaning on it with her back and left.

2:40 pm

my feet shuffled through the snow covered side walk as i inhaled the cold winter air. i looked around clutching my back pack and took in my neighborhood's beauty. i loved this season and how everything was blue and white. it looked so peaceful and simple. from the snow covered roofs to the dry branch filled trees. i loved it all.

as i neared my three floored home, i saw something interesting. the house only 2 away from mine had a moving truck in the driveway. an older woman, probably mid 40's was carrying a box out of it and a little girl was whining next to her about not being able to find her barbies. she seemed overwhelmed and flustered. i dropped my back pack in front of my house and ran over to them.

"um, hi! im aspen. i live right over there. do you need some help? here let me carry that." she smiled at me as i took the box from her hands. jesus this is heavy.

"thank you so much sweetie! i'm liz, liz hemmings." she seemed caring and kind hearted. her dirty blonde hair was tucked in a festive christmas beanie.

"i'm aspen and it's no problem. ill just take this on in." i said as i trudged into the house through the front door. i saw a couch in the living room and plopped the box down. i looked around taking in the naked white walls. the living room was connected to the kitchen, like mine. except theirs was much bigger and the walls much taller.

"wow, its really nice in here." i said, my mouth a gape as i stared out the huge window that looked out side into the back yard.

"thank you! i absolutely adore it. i knew we had to move in as soon as i saw it. i was just looking onli-" before she could finish a tall boy came walking down the stairs into the room yelling "sorry mum! had to poo. where's that box a- oh" he had been shouting out the front door when he turned his head and saw me and liz standing in the living room. his cheeks turned a shade of pale pink when his eyes landed on me.

"well. luke, this is aspen. she lives around here and helped me carry in the box you were supposed to carry in but i guess you were a little busy. i'm sure glad she was there when she was. between that heavy box and emily's screaming, i was about to blow up!' liz exclaimed and threw her hands out. she walked to the front doorway and called for who i assumed was the little girl.

"emily may! get out of there! we can find your toys tomorrow. its freezing." she sighed turning around, the little girl following behind her and closing the door.

liz shivered. "god. i hate winter."

"i love it." me and luke turned our heads towards each other, realizing we had said the same sentence in unision.
