January 26th.

There was a quiet knock on the bedroom door before JC slowly walked in.

I stared blankly at him for a few moments, not knowing what to say or do, then I turned my head to stare at the wall.

"Hey, Kian." JC said as he walked over to my bed and sat down next to me. "How're you feeling today?"

"Okay, I guess." I muttered, leaning my head on his shoulder after I sat up.

"Yeah? You're feeling okay?"

I nodded my head some, not really wanting to talk very much. He leaned his head down just a little to kiss the top of my head. "That's good, love." JC said, wrapping an arm around my waist.

I shrugged a little. "It really is good. Yesterday your answer was 'I want to crawl in a hole and die'. Today's answer was 'Okay, I guess'. It may not seem like it, but you are making progress." He stroked my side with his hand gently before moving his arm from around me and standing up. "I got fries from McDonalds in the kitchen. You want some?"

I inhaled deeply before standing up from the bed. "I guess. Only a few, though." I muttered.

"Yeah?" He said and held out his hand. I placed my hand in his and interlaced our fingers. "Come on, then."

I held onto his hand tightly as I followed him downstairs and into the kitchen.

"You're gonna have to let go of my hand for a second, okay?" He kissed the top of my hand and started to let go of my hand, but I tightened my grip.

Honestly, he is the only one that makes me feel better. Even just a touch of the hand brightens my day at least just a little bit, and I really loved holding onto his hand. So when he let go, I got upset.

"Just a second, I promise. Then you can hold my hand again. Okay?" He said and I sighed a little before sitting at the table. I watched as he took the fries out of the bag and put some on a plate. "Just let me know if you want more. There's plenty." He brought the plate over to me and set it on the table before sitting next to me.

I stared at the plate for a while, not really wanting to eat at all.

"Don't feel like I'm forcing you to eat. I know you haven't really had an appetite lately." He said, holding his hand out for me to grab.

I shrugged a little and placed my hand in his before grabbing a fry with my other hand. After a few seconds of staring at the damn fry, I actually ate it. And then a few more. But after about six fries, I lost my appetite again.

"I'm sorry." I said as I pushed the plate away.

"Hey, don't apologize. That's progress, love. You haven't eaten in days. You'll get there eventually."

"I don't think so." I said, frowning a little as I laid my head on his shoulder.

"I promise you will." He kissed my cheek gently. I smiled just a little and stood up before sitting on his lap.

"Is that a smile I see?" He said and placed his hands on my cheeks.

"Nooo, shut up."

"Oh, I don't know, that looked like a smile to me."
