A wooden door opened on that spring day, revealing a Lucario dressed in a dark blue robe trimmed in silver. 'Another day' Asriel thought to himself, letting the scents of the forest bring peace to his mind from a restless night. Asriel then walked to the back of his hut, preferring to take the long way to let his blood flow.
A row of bushes swayed in the breeze as Asriel looked over them, taking note of the fruit to be. 'A few more days and I should be ready to harvest' Asriel thought to himself, enjoying the sweet scent the leaves gave off before checking his medicinal berries, taking note that they were almost ready to harvest. Finally, Asriel finished his check by moving to his only root plant, one that had its own side. 'I see that the hundred crowns I spent were not a waste after all,' Asriel smiled, checking the green leaves of the Light Root plant, knowing that the seeds he bought were incredibly rare in the part of the world. 'I am glad my master got me that botany book before he died,' Asriel finished as he left the garden, satisfied that his plants were doing well.
Asriel retreated back into his house to gather his things for the village market and for his deliveries. Retrieving his pack, Asriel started to place the medicine he made into it in wrapped bundles; salves, poultices, and potions on the bottom while plants like leaves, seeds and roots went on top, also wrapped in bundles. Sealing his bag, Asriel gently put it on before checking on his potion, taking note that it still was a deep purple color and simmering slightly. 'It won't be done for a while yet,' Asriel thought before he left, closing the door behind him and locking it with a spell, knowing no one would figure out how to unlock it.
With a deep breath, Asriel started the walk to his birth village of Kupo, the streets as familiar as his reflection. As he walked, he let the sounds of the forest occupy him till he reached the outskirts of Kupo, the sounds of early morning business reaching his sensitive ears.
Walking down the streets he had known since he was a Riolu, Asriel waved to the Pokemon who he had all but grown up with, some being friends of his ever since they were little. "Good morning Asriel; off to the market?" a ferret, named Rosa, asked as she watered her roses. "Yes ma'am; how is your son? Does Zach need more Fevercool?" Asriel asked with concern, remembering the sick Zigzagoon clearly. "His fever is completely gone, thanks to you," Rosa replied with a smile, deep gratitude in the simple expression. "I am glad to hear it," Asriel smiled back, bowing to her before continuing on his travel.
"Asriel! Off to the market?" a Jolteon asked when he saw the Lucario, Asriel remembering his name immediately. "I sure am Jason; how is your daughter? Is Lisa feeling any pain at all in her wrist? I have a pain salve I can spare," Asriel offered to him. To his surprise, an Eevee came running out of the house, laughing as she jumped into his arms. "Thank you, Mr. Asriel! I feel lots better!" the six-year-old said, moving her hand to prove it. "Lisa, get down before you hurt a foot! You will hurt yourself again if you don't stop that!" Jason scolded as Asriel set her down. "You listen to your papa, okay? Stay off your acrobatics for a while," Asriel said, winking to the Eevee before she nodded with a smile, running off to her father. Smiling to them both, Asriel continued on his way, greeting a few more Pokemon in a similar fashion till he reached the village market place.
Despite it being early morning, the market was already busy with mothers doing early morning shopping. Weaving his way through the crowds with practiced ease, Asriel soon reached his destination, it being the healers' booth. "Ah, Asriel; right on time as usual!" the Zoroark behind the counter, named Zara, smiled to the Lucario. "Good Morning, lady Zara. How are you doing?" Asriel smiled before he was invited behind the stall and to the storage. "Well, thank you," Zara replied as Asriel set his things down, removing his plants first before setting what he wanted to sell to her on the wooden counter top. "I know your products are fine; the health of the village says so. "How much do you want for your wares?" Zara asked Asriel as she gazed at his medicine. "Seventy-five crowns for it all," Asriel replied, giving a decent price as he started to pack his plants back up. "Wait, are those Light Seeds?" Zara asked, her tone incredulous as she looked at the five white seeds. "Yes ma'am; I had to bargain for a few weeks before I managed to get a good price for them. I also planted one in my garden; it is flourishing nicely," Asriel replied with a proud smile. "I will give you fifty more crowns for two of them; the town's herbalist refuses to sell to me," Zara offered, her tone containing slight venom at the mention of the leafeon. "That is too much; I will take twenty for them," Asriel replied, shocked at the high offer; he could never take that much. Asriel separated the two seeds from the five that he had as Zara counted out the money, giving him a coin pouch in exchange for everything else. "Thank you so much, Asriel. Have a great rest of your day," Zara smiled, Asriel wishing her the same as he left the stall before proceeding to move stall to stall, checking up on store owners whom he had treated or had helped their families, one store owner even giving him some fruit.
"Have a good day Frost!" Asriel waved as he left the Glaceons stall, leaving the market to retreat back to his home, taking a different route to make his deliveries. A Lucario was outside of her home, waiting with a basket in her paws. Good morning Aerial; how is your mother doing? Is she drinking her tea?" Asriel asked as he set down his bag. "Yes; she has new life in her bones. I can't thank you enough Asriel. Here; these are for you," Aerial said, handing him the basket, the smell of cookies washing over Asriel's snout like a pleasant shower, smelling good enough to make his mouth water as he took the basket from her. "Here; these should last your mother a week's worth of dinners at minimum of tea. Only give your mother a cup of tea when it looks like her health is going down; I think her body should have developed enough to fight off the sickness, but you can never be too careful," Asriel said, handing her the Sweet leaves in exchange, silently glad that the sweet old Lucario would not be leaving them anytime soon.
Bidding her farewell, Asriel left her home to make his last stop. The scent of sickness was in the air, concerning the Lucario as he ran to the front door, quickly knocking. "Come in," a raspy voice said from inside. Opening the door, the scent of vomit was in the air as Asriel saw a Riolu on a bed, her breathing ragged, as if she were having trouble breathing. "How long has she been like this?" Asriel cried, running to the child's bed side, setting down his things as Lucas, the Riolu's father walked to the bed, his eyes sad as he gazed down at his daughter. Asriel pressed a paw against the pups head; the child was burning up! "Lucas, I need you to go get a bowl of cool water and a clean rag; I need you to keep her cool while I work," Asriel commanded as he reviewed a list of healing spells to piece together an enchantment.
When Lucas returned, Asriel began to work, his paws glowing a faint light as he worked on her body temperature first. The sleeping Riolu seemed to whimper with relief as she slept, her father talking to her gently. Asriel then moved to removing her illness, placing healing properties on her to strengthen her body's defenses against illnesses. When Asriel finished with his healing, he let go of his magic, sighing when he saw the relaxed look on the pups face. "She will be fine, but take these; make these in a tea and make sure she drinks at least one cup a day," Asriel said, taking out a bundle of Sweet, Irsin and mint leaves out of his pack, telling Lucas to boil them for ten minutes as he got up from the bed side.
"Thank you, so much Asriel. I could never repay you for saving my little girl," Lucas said as Asriel made to take his leave. "I am a healer sir; it is my job," Asriel replied with a smile. "If there is anything you need help with, I will help you in any way in my power," Lucas vowed, shanking paws with the fellow Lucario. "Thank you, Lucas. Pardon me, but I have a Potion brewing at home," Asriel said, excusing himself from the house.
Little did he know, that as Asriel left the house, a pair of scarlet eyes watched him walk away, a steely glint in them before they vanished.
This is the first chapter of a book I have planned. Because of a RP I was in, this idea came into existance. I hope that you all have enjoyed reading this chapter! See ya soon!
