The next few days were spent slowly, Asriel staying home to look over his current patient and monitor her health. Though, every night, he felt and swore that someone was watching him; Asriel even asked the sisters if they felt it. They told him no. Soon, much to Flae's delight, the evening of the ball had arrived.
"I can help but wonder who will be there! I hope the Jaral's sons will be there; I heard that she is looking for wives for them!" Flae squealed as she brushed her fur, a golden ponytail on her shoulder. "I wonder what they look like; I heard they made every female swoon at the last ball!" Glace replied with a blush and smile. Asriel just watched them get ready, smirking with amusement; he had been ready two hours ago. Dressed in a fancy dress robe, Asriel was comfortable about how he was dressed, his sapphire necklace clasped around his neck.
"Are you two ready? We have to leave soon," Asriel asked them. "I am ready," Glace said as she stood up, the lapiz blue dress looking stunning on her. "So am I; just finished," Flae followed up, her dress seems to make her body ripple as she moved. "The jarals ballroom is an hour away, but we should make it dead on time," Asriel said as he led them outside, the gem on his necklace catching the sunlight. "Where did you get the necklace?" Glace asked, curious. "It was a gift for my coming of age year, from my master," Asriel replied, touching the gem fondly. "Oh," Glace said, looking deep in thought as they reached Asriel's cart. "Um, where are the horses?" Flae asked, looking around to see where they were. "Who said anything about needing horses?" Asriel smirked as he touched the side of the cart, brushing his paw against a small emerald. "Get on; the cart will take us there," Asriel said before he helped them get on. As soon as Asriel stepped foot on the cart, it started to move, startling Glace and Flae.
"This is my greatest work, using every bit of my slight knowledge over Alteration and Illusion to make the proper spells and enchantments. I am not the best practice in those fields," Asriel said, knowing that such a project should have taken him no more than one week, but it took him two months to finish it. "This is amazing! Have you considered putting this before the Alteration and Illusion guilds?" Glace asked, her tone saying she was impressed; Asriel snorted. "No; I think I would want to keep this to myself. They have seen it by accident and have offered to buy it from me, but I declined. I worked hard on this and want to keep it to myself. "Asriel replied, ranting slightly about the two most stuck up guilds in his eyes, rolling his eyes.
Asriel could hear the party music way before they reached the jarals estate, festivities in the front yard containing wives and husbands dancing, able to keep an eye on their playing children. As their cart stopped beside the others, Asriel saw that only a small portion of the people invited had arrived. "Come with me; I have to show my invitation with you two with me," Asriel smiled, jumping down before moving to help the sisters down. As he helped Glace down, he saw a swirl of movement at the edge of the tree line. Looking quickly, he thought he saw a pair of scarlet eyes, but it was gone before he could get a good look.
Shrugging it off, Asriel helped Flae down before leading them to the entrance. Showing his invite to the guard, Asriel walked through the gate, Flae, and Glace arm-in-arm with him. Almost immediately Asriel ran into an old friend, one he had not seen for two decades. "Orron!" Asriel said, shaking paws with the Zoroark. "It has been a long time friend," Orron replied, nodding with a smile. "Who are you?" a new voice asked, her tone curious. Asriel turned around to see a female Lucario walking to them before she stood by Orron. "I am Asriel; these are Flae and Glace," Asriel introduced, bowing to the lady with respect. "I am Amy, wife to Orron," the Lucario replied, giving a curtsy to them; Asriel gaped at his friend, who was smiling.
"When did you wed? Why did you not invite me?" Asriel asked, acting hurt. "I tried; did you not get my letters?" orron asked back. "I got nothing," Asriel replied. "We were wed three months ago," Amy responded, smiling at Orron with a look of love and happiness. Asriel talked with them for a while before talk turned to him.
"I see you have two ladies with you; do you plan to wed one of them?"Orron chuckled; all three blushed. "Are you two sisters?" Amy asked the eeveelutions, saving Asriel from answering. "Yes," Flae replied, smiling as Amy continued to talk to them. "Asriel, may I speak to you, alone?" orron asked. "We will be inside if you need us," Amy smiled at her husbands seeking-for-permission- look.
Smiling to his wife, Orron gave her a kiss before he led Asriel across the yard, silent as he took a seat on a bench in a secluded part of the yard, no one else around them. "How is life as a healer?" Orron asked Asriel as he took a seat by him. "Good, I suppose; business is slow, but that is a good thing," Asriel stated. "Good. Have you helped Pokemon give birth?" Orron asked, his eyes containing a spark of hope and desperation; Asriel broke out into a wide grin. "It is part of being a healer. Do yo8u want me to check your wife?" Asriel said, knowing that Orron would have trouble asking a question like that. "Yes," Orron said, his body relaxing as he sighed. "Bring her to my cottage after the ball," Asriel told him with a smile. "Is there anything I should look for?" Orron asked him. "How far along do you think she is?" Asriel asked, knowing that the answer would get different responses. "I believe a month," Asriel responded.
"Then I would watch for morning sickness; she would be throwing up every morning. Also, I would expect cravings of random foods," Asriel asnwered before adding mood swings. Orron looked worried, sealing what Asriel thought; when Amy turned, he thought he saw that Amy had a slight bump in his stomach, but he thought it was because of the tightness of her dress.
When Orron left, Asriel smiled, unaware of what was lurking in the shadows.
