"It's okay, Don. It's just a silly infestation. You can handle this."

Don couldn't handle it.

The infestation was too bad for him to handle on his own.

He got out his phone and called the pest control number he was given by the lady at the store. Immediately, an automated answering machine picked up. "Hello," it said. "Thank you for calling Richwood Pest Control. Please wait while we process your call."

Don sighed and sat down on the lawn. The neighbors looked at him oddly as they walked by, but Don didn't really have a choice. If he went inside, he would be attacked by an army of wraps, roaches and rats.

Five minutes turned into ten, and ten minutes turned into twenty, and twenty minutes turned into an hour. And then two. And then three. It was almost sundown. Tired of waiting and also very hungry, Don decided to take matters into his own hands again. He got into his car...and drove to McDonald's for a quick meal...then he drove to the store.

Don must have had at least 100 cans of assorted pesticides in his buggy. A few people behind him looked at him funny, but Don didn't pay them any mind. He was next in line at the checkout. The blonde girl behind the counter looked at him questioningly before hesitantly grabbing the first bottle of roach killer.

"Whoa...You part of a pest control company or something," she asked.

Don shook his head. "I'm renovating a home. There's a huge wasp's nest under the house, and I'm not really big on money right now so this is what it's come to." Of course he was undermining the problem. It was already apparent that there was much more going on.

The girl snickered, but cleared her throat in an attempt to hide it. "Well good luck...but don't you think you should wear longer sleeves?"

"It's the middle of summer. That ain't happening."

The girl made a face and laughed even harder. She looked away for a moment before sobering herself and turning around. Don was unamused. "That'll be $403.87," she said. "Cash or card?"

Don woke up early the next morning. He was determined to sleep in a bed that day. He would've stayed in a hotel, but he was strapped for cash after his adventure to the store. With clenched fists, he grabbed a can of wasp spray and got out of his grey pickup truck. He shook the bottle and took of the cap. His clammy hand clenched onto the dull brass doorknob. "Here we go," he murmured.
