Melanie
Man

[A tall, gangly man limped up to the checkout aisle with a cart filled with various types of meat products and a black parasol. His thin frame was covered by a pitch black hoodie and a skin-tight pair of jeans. The man's face was almost completely hidden, but Melanie could tell by his red-stained hands that he was unnaturally pale.]

[Melanie looks at the man with disgust and confusion] "Um..."

"..."

[She hesitantly grabs the first pack of chicken and scans it.] "So...I haven't seen you around before."

"..."

[Melanie coughs and talks with a little more force.] "I haven't seen you around before."

"..."

[Melanie sighs] "Look, dude; I'm just trying to start a nice conversation. Is that too much to ask?"

"..."

"Fine, be like that...220.43. Cash or card?"

[The man slaps some coins into the counter, takes his bags, and limps away. Melanie picks up the dirt-covered coins and inspects them. There was an odd emblem on them. It was some sort of grotesque face with fangs and bat wings. Melanie wanted to ask the strange man about this, but by the time she looked up, he was gone.]
