02 Shot | Min Yoongi | angst
"Did you ever love me?"
"Han Soo-"
"I said, did you ever love me?"
"Han Soo-ah plea-"
"Answer the damn question, Min Yoongi."
"I-" his hesitation along with his constant habit of lip biting frightened me, "..no."
present day seoul, SK
The cold brew of black tea added with a dash of sugar sat in both her nimble hands, the condensation dripped off and eventually made the palms and fingers of her hands shrivel.
The palms of her fingertips drummed against the monogamy wood surface in a steady rhythm.
It was an eerie morning, plain stormy clouds crowded the sky and the autumn was coming earlier than expected.
It wasn't that she hated the cold—she actually loved the thought of cuddling with her fluffiness white sweater and drinking a hot beverage— but the thought of her summer vacation ending made her groan.
She was currently visiting her hometown of Daegu. Greeting old friends and neighbors that had filled her past memories with happiness felt refreshing. She felt like her small reunion was much too short. Her plane ride back to Seoul was the day after tomorrow in the early morning.
She smiled when she remembered her best friend's astonished face the moment they saw each other's faces. It was a shame that one of her best friends—or should I say, ex-boyfriend—had to be pushed out of her life.
But she knew some people weren't meant for each other. Sometimes, opposites don't attract due to the overwhelming amount of negative energy that overpowered the positive.
Sometimes, there was no happily ever after.
The vacant chair in front of her suddenly screeched aside, causing her to jump out of surprise and cut off her train of thoughts.
She knitted her eyebrows together in confusion: Who was this person?
It was man, seemingly around her own age, adorned in a simple black cap and a face mask covering half of his face. His eyes crinkled when he smiled. Triangular eye smile that fluttered the old butterflies in her stomach flutter rapidly. She felt sick.
He abruptly spoke out in a hushed tone that melted her insides, "Sorry—is this seat taken?"
She quickly shook her head a mumbled a quiet "No." She was still bewildered at the situation she was placed in at the moment.
He must've sensed her puzzlement as he gave out a nervous chuckle and said, "Uh, there were no other seats that weren't taken."
"Oh no, it's fine with me! I was just about to leave anyways." Her words tumbled out her mouth out of nervousness. She stood up and threw away the used napkins, before pausing to pick up her purse.
"Erm- enjoy your day.." she mumbled hesitantly and immediately face-palmed herself. Why was she so jittery?
He gave a slight nod and said, "You too. Sorry, if I scared you away."
"No!" She shouted a tad bit too loud, and her sudden response caused her hand to fly up and accidentally knock the left over tea inside the glass cup onto the stranger before her. The tea splashed against the stranger's rich-looking shirt and his eyes widened in surprise.
(a/n I'm reeech. I don't know why I used rich-looking instead of just expensive)
She felt like melting away from the amount of embarrassment she caused. Her cheeks were now crimson red and it was obvious as she could feel the heat creeping up. She badly wanted to squeeze her eyes shut and escape the mess that her scatterbrained reflexes caused.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry!" She apologized while trying to get some napkins to clean up the mess. She was beyond humiliated and she cursed her clumsiness for acting up now.
He released a laugh that rang music into her ears yet somehow also sparked up a hint of recognition, "It's fine." No it wasn't.
She bowed once again, "So sorry! I can pay for your drink or your shirt!" Her brain couldn't think of any other way to make up for her stupidity fast enough.
He smiled behind his mask, "I doubt you can pay for my shirt." Huh?
He waved his hand in the air, "Ah, it's fine. Taehyung will be mad about my ruined Gucci shirt," He mumbled to himself and stood up before facing the flustered girl in front of him, "Uh.. sorry about your coffee."
She bit her lip before quietly correcting him, "It was tea. I-I don't drink coffee." —anymore at least.
His eyes lit up in amusement. "Huh. I prefer coffee over tea. This reminds me of a song I produced quite a while ago," He was laughing to himself as he found this situation interesting and ironic at the same time.
"What's your name?" He couldn't help but ask for the clumsy adorable girl's name as he had finally found someone that peaked his interest as much as she did.
She was lost in a daze, but bit the inside of her cheek before replying, "...Han Soo."
The moment her answer left her mouth, his body went rigid and the soft expression he had on vanished. He was clearly uncomfortable, but she didn't understand why.
"Uh.. My name is Suga." He barely replied, and averted his eyes from her confused look. His humorous vibe that previously shone around him was now dark and unfriendly.
"Okay, um.. Have a nice day. And I'm sorry about the shirt," She mumbled, "Here, call me so I can buy you a drink to make up for it." She handed a plain napkin with her phone number written on it before dashing out the shop with her heart thumping against her rib cage like there was no tomorrow. Her emotions were overwhelming her to the point where she felt dizzy and light headed.
Suga? Why did that name seem so familiar to her?
And did I just pull a lame flirting trick? Seriously? Your number on a napkin?
Her mind was thinking so hard but she couldn't help feel as if she knew the man. It was almost as if he had brought a feeling of calamity upon her.
It's fine, she reassured herself, I'm probably just hallucinating. Hopefully, he won't call me at all.
She shrugged off the unsettling feeling and walked past a vibrant neon sign, ready to make her way back home.
