28. Hands Up

As I walked down the aisle to be handed my college degree, I started tearing up. This was a very bittersweet moment for me. I'd worked my ass off all through school and studied my ass off all through college. So this was it... My pay off was finally here.

I am 24 years old and I am proud to say I've never really been a party girl, I just studied so that I could become a lawyer and one day possibly, be as good a lawyer as my own mother is.

It was sweet because I was finally finished with school and I already had an amazing law firm promising me a great job with great pay. The bitter part was that my daddy just died last year and he wasn't there to see this happen. He only wanted the best for me. I miss him so much.

With a few calming breaths, I stopped the tears from spilling out of my eyes and running down my cheeks. I was handed my diploma, hugged, then my picture was taken. And just like that... It was over!

When I got home, I fell backwards onto my bed. I was wore out. It was early Friday day and after we left the ceremony, ma took me to the China Won for lunch. Now I'm just bored. I get up off of my bed and start packing my things, needing to get up and move around because if I don't, I'm just gonna go to sleep.

Next weekend I'll be in my very own studio apartment and I'm so super excited. If I could only get up the energy I need to get this shit done and over with. I'd be alright.

*Ding*

I looked over at my phone being brought to life with a text message, wondering if I should even respond or not. I finished folding the jeans in my arms, put it in the box marked My Bedroom and decided that I might as well.

I walked over to my cell and picked it up...

Jessica: Hey! Where the hell are you baby?

Me: I'm home packing! Nerd! Where the hell are you?

Jessica: With Jae at his place. Are you still coming tonight?

Me: Idk... I've still got so much to do! I wish I could... I'm sorry and I love you! ♡

Jessica: Are you really bailing on me? Please please come! I need you here. This is OUR graduation party! If I'd've known this was going to happen, I wouldn't have even bothered with it. 😡😟😢😭  I love you too! 💔

I'm such a terrible friend. She did this for me and I knew it. And here I was being selfish! Way to go y-n! I thought.

Me: I'm sorry Jesse! I'll be there, I was only trying to surprise you but you know I can't lie to you. I'll be there. 💋

I tossed my phone on my bed and started dressing in my tight blue jeans and my pink under armor shirt. Then my white under armor tennis shoes. Tonight was just a party. And as Jess knew, I didn't do much of that kind of stuff. But oh well, if I puke... At least I can count on her to hold my hair.

I got to her house and stepped out of my car, locking it and shoving my keys in my pocket while walking in her front door.

"Oh my God!" She squealed as I walked into her view. She came over and hugged me tight and said, "Come on... I'll get you a drink." She grabbed my hand and tugged on it, dragging me into the kitchen.
