It all started with a single rose.
Or so I thought.
It was like any other day at Calin High School. Being with friends, going to my usual classes, just...normal.
Well, maybe I should introduce myself. My name is Sephera, the one who's always in the middle. I'm basically a regular redhead with sea green eyes. I'm not quite all that popular either,
but you deal with it.
I had just finished lunch and was headed to Geometry when I felt the prickling fear of someone boring their eyes onto me. I finally turned around after several seconds and saw...no one. I
was headed to class when I turned around and saw that creepy new kid...Elethen...right in my face. Apparently, he had a talent for giving people heart attacks at a very young age.
Emotionlessly, he said, "Hello."
It took me a minute to recover, but I finally responded. "Hey." Right after I said that, I started to wonder how he had got there so quickly. It's such a mystery.
I heard the warning bell ring and muttered, "Ah crap!" I started running to class.
"Pop quiz," Ms. Gonera announced. Everybody groaned except for one person who was sleeping in the corner and snoring very loudly. Ms. Gonera started to pass out the papers one by one. As
she reached the sleeping boy, she smacked him upside the head and gave him his paper.
Then, right out of the corner of my eye, I saw a kid out of the window, and... oh my God! It was Elethen!
I raised my hand. "Uh, Ms. Gonera, can you please close the curtains?" She closed them and Elethen was nowhere to be seen, but the image of him and his creepy-looking stare was burned into
my brain.
I went to the last class of the day: Gym. Once I was there, I felt weirded out again. Well, all I had to do was get into my t-shirt and shorts and face whatever they had.
I went into the Gymnasium and I saw him. Elethen, in my 5th hour Gym class. Elethen, the kid who keeps staring. Elethen, the kid who might possibly like me.
We played dodge ball today and I kept attempting to pelt him with the ball, but, unfortunately, he kept dodging them. Then he got a mischievous look on his face.
I went home in my car and did my normal routine. I did my homework, played with my parrot, watched a little television, ate dinner, and went to bed. That was when I had my first nightmare.
I was walking on the beach with my MAJOR crush, Rick, just talking with him. Like any other dream, right? Wrong. Just then, a trench opened up in front of us, even splitting the sea water
into two. Then a small raven swooped down, grabbing Rick's neck with its feet. He screamed in genuine agony. The uncanny raven dragged him forward, into the deep, dark trench and I tried to grab
him back, but I was frozen in fear.
After Rick disappeared inside, someone appeared right in front of me. He looked so much like an angel (and I wished he was), but he...wasn't.
I noticed who he was right then. It was Elethen! Jeesh, he's even in my dreams? That's sort of stalker-ish. I even felt a weird kind of attraction to him...I guess that's why they call it
a nightmare.
He had his short, black hair over one and was dressed in black, blue, and dark purple. Goth or Emo? I'm not really sure. He only looked like an angel because of his white wings and his
halo.
He looked at me straight in the eyes and smiled very warmly (and, of course, I just HAD to smile back...). Then he looked down at a bag beside him which I didn't even notice. It was black,
with some red hanging off the end of it. It looked like it could be something the Indians used.
The angel bent down, opened his bag, and pulled out something that looked like...like...a purple rose! Oh yeah, did I ever mention that I can never control my dreams? Well, even though I
tried hard not to, I took the flower and smiled at him.
I was drawn closer to him... and... and...
I bolt directly upright in a cold sweat. I also forgot that my ceiling was really low, so i hit my head on it so hard that I started to see stars. After I recovered, I started to pant. The
dream seemed so real, so vivid.
I glanced at my clock.
2:00 AM. Ugh.
"Geez, Sephera. You've really gone crazy, haven't you?" On that happy note, I went back to sleep.
The next day, I went to school again (I wish I hadn't though, because everyone was chatty and gave me SUCH a migraine. There was also a food fight and I was splattered with food.) After C lunch, I never felt someone stare at me from behind, not in Geometry, nor Gym. Then I realized Elethen was nowhere to be seen. How unusual of him.
