Take Me

Prologue

May 10th 2003

"Now hunny" My dad kneeled in front of me with a sweaty head. "I need you to take this and keep it safe" He held a silver chain, dangling from his finger. On the end was a key shaped jewel with a diamond encrusted in the middle.

"But it was mommy's" I said

"I know sweetie, I know. But she's not here to keep it safe anymore."

"Where did she go?" I ask, confused. She'd be back soon. She'd only gone to get her haircut.

There was another loud bang on the door, and my dad jolted along with me.

"You're going to stay with Lauren's family for a while okay? He says with a rushed voice.

"Daddy why, where are you going?" Instead of answering he placed a soft kiss on my forehead and stood up from his crouched position.

"I'll be back I promise" He said, slowly backing away to the door where the bang had came from. I knew he was going to fight off the bad guys. He always did. "Remember don't let anyone take that from you" He warned before walking out the door and looking behind his shoulder one last time.

"I love you" He said.
