Happy reading! xx
We arrived at the building right on time. Not much was spoken during the ride up, the only sound filling the car was the occasional curse words from Harry when someone cut him off.
I still didn't understand why his mood changed so quickly when he found me in his room.
Who knows, maybe he has a stash of porn he doesn't want me to find.
I looked over at him when he parked the car. He didn't look as mad anymore, and his features softened when he saw my nerves take a hold of me.
"They're not going to completely transform you Rachel." He says reassuringly but my thumbs are still twiddling. "They're only going to change little things like the length or color of your hair." He continues and my eyes widen.
"Those are not little things, Harry!" I yell and watch him pinch the bridge of his nose.
I huff and cross my arms looking out the window shield. "Why are they doing this to me anyway? Why me?" I ask defeated. Supposedly I have this thing that a lot people want but I don't even know what this thing is.
"They want you Rachel. I'm not supposed to tell you everything for reasons I don't even know myself but you just have to be strong for now. And whether you like it or not I'm gonna be here every step of the way. I won't let anything happen to you."
His words were kind. Kind enough to make a tear drop fall from my eye. I didn't know why I was crying. Hair can always grow back. It wasn't that anymore it was something else. Maybe I'm just realizing the seriousness of this shit situation or maybe it's because as much as I don't want to admit Harry does make me feel safe. I know so little about him but for some reason I trust him. And I almost felt okay.
I felt the pad of his thumb wipe away the slowly falling test drop and I can't help but wonder how much he actually knows about me. Has he read about my life in a file? Or does he not really know anything? I didn't know much, but I did know I was going to find out.
"Thank you" I say and my eyes meet his. I noticed how deep green they were and when the sun slowly shined through the window his pupils got smaller and the shade of green got brighter.
"We should head inside" his voice is almost a whisper, but more than loud enough for me to hear in the silence of his car.
I nod and turn away, unbuckling my seat belt. I take my time stepping out of the car and so does he. It was a drastic change from yesterday when he nearly ran towards the apartment, probably just to get away from me.
We walk side by side until we finally reach the door. I take a deep breath as he holds the door open and step inside. I'm instantly hit with several strong scenes of hairspray, nail polish and bleach. It was odd but it tightened my throat and before I knew it both Harry and I are chocking on a cough.
"Wow" I let out with a final cough. He nods in agreement.
"Hello! You must be Harry!" A male greets him, his voice the opposite of deep.
Harry takes his hands and firmly shakes it, I don't miss the wince on the males face from Harry's strong grip.
His eyes dart from Harry to mine and a large smile curves his thin lips.
"That must make you Rachel, yes?" He asks. The minute I nod his arms are wrapped around me in a tight hug. "I'm Gael. I've heard so much about you! Oh goodness those cheekbones are to die for! You are one lucky girl! And I mean that in more way than one" he winks looking between Harry and I.
