Chapter 30 (Cool to the Touch)

I made it back at my house. I moved out my dad's place and I'm staying in this brownstone in the same neighborhood Cecil set up for me. I don't know how much money my family has but I know they're in the real estate business and I know I shouldn't be surprised by all the properties they own but somehow, I still am none-the-less.

I opened the door and Pete came running up to me excited. "Hey my baby!" I said to him and I picked him up, "You're getting big." He barked in excitement. I put him down and I went to check his bowls and see if he had food and water. He ran out of water so I poured him some and he started drinking immediately.

"I'm sorry Pete." I said and I went and looked at the mail I got. I know it's weird, but I don't get bills, like at all. I got letters and that's pretty much it. I took myself upstairs to shower and change. I put on an oversized tee and some shorts, the lazy comforts. I started drying my hair because I had to wash it after a day like this.

The blow dryer was so loud I almost didn't hear the doorbell ringing. I just heard Pete barking happily. I went downstairs with hair all over my head. "Who is it?" I asked because it was one in the morning, so this is weird. I went to looked through the peephole and it was Ahm. I sighed and rolled my eyes and opened the door. Pete ran up to him and started jumping on him than back to the house.

"It's one in the morning, if I yell 'Who is it?' I expect an answer." He didn't reply or change his face. "What?" I asked him and he still didn't say anything. "Okay, I'm closing the door." I said and I started to but he put his foot in the door and then pushed himself inside the house. I looked at him like he was crazy. I closed and locked my door.

Ahm sighed and he plopped down on my couch and turned on the TV. "Um sir?" I asked Ahm and he showed feign attention to me. "Ahm!" I shouted and he sighed out in frustration. "Fine, whatever." I said and I walked back up to my room and I started drying my hair again, it didn't take much longer.

I took every strain and I dressed it with some light oil and I threw my hair up in a bun. I hated sleeping with loose hair honestly. I cleaned up everything and put it back in its respectful places and then I set my sights for sleep.

I climbed in my bed because I was tired, very, very tired. I sighed and I reached to turn off my lamp but my door opened and Ahm was standing there with his eyebrows raised. "You forgot about me?" He asked and I stared at him blankly "You weren't talking to me. You were being rude. You were in one of your moods, one that I didn't feel like dealing with. I'm tired, leave me alone." I turned off my light and turned on my side and closed my eyes.

"Pete go hop on her." He sicced Pete on me and within seconds Pete ran in and hopped on me licking my face. "Pete!" I whined and he stood over me smiling. "Alright." I said to him and he laid down next to me. "Hop up Pete that ain't yo spot." Ahm told him and he stood up and climbed out the bed and ran out the room. I got up and went to wash my face and I closed my door and climbed back in my bed while mugging Ahm.

Ahm turned on my light and he sat down next to me. I made another face at him and I turned around. He smacked my butt hard, "You turning your back on me now?" He asked quizzically. I didn't answer, I was going to treat him like he treats me, see how he feels.

"You're kinda getting on my nerves right now, can you talk to me please?" Ahm said and I scoffed. He leaned down and he pulled me into him and sat me on his lap. "Why don't we not do this tonight. Let's talk and fix this so I can let you sleep in peace." He said sweetly and my dumbass fell for it.

"Why do we always have to go through this?" I said out loud and he sighed, "Cause you a woman and you can't let stuff go." He answered me thinking that was the right answer. I smacked my lips and I hit his chest. "That is not it." I said to him and he made a face at me. "That's not nice to say." He nodded, "I wanted to spend some time with you today but we were out and about." I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I know you can't spend time with me in public. Yeah. Unless it's outside Brooklyn." My mood was sour and Ahm sighed in frustration, "It ain't like that." Ahm tried to get me to understand, instead I just rolled my eyes. "The more and more I think about it, the more I wish we didn't go out." I admitted and he looked at me weird. "What are you saying?" I sighed, "This isn't what I want." I simply told him.

His grip got really strong and he made a face that was bothered. "All I ever do is-" He began but I interrupted, "Yeah, yeah, I know. You do so much and it's for my benefit, I know. I've heard it time and time again, and yet I'm the one who's changed and you've remained the same." I said avoiding looking at him. "So you wanna leave me?" He asked and I shrugged. "I don't want to, but you're not giving me a choice. Maybe I'll wait to find another boyfriend before I break up with you. So, I won't be lonely when we're over..." I lightly joked he sucked his teeth.

"You just determined to get on my bad side." I smiled, "What are you going to do? Break my arm or something?" I lightly joked again. "Wow! You wanna really go there?" I laughed a bit. "So what are you going to do since I'm a bad boyfriend?" He asked me and I shrugged. "I feel like you're the one, but I want you to be better. I want someone who can show they care about me, and not just in private, and I want someone who smiles every once in a while, and I want someone who... Who doesn't make me feel like I'm a burden to them." I said out loud.

I felt Ahm's hands loosen, "You ain't a burden but for that other shit you need a new guy." He simply said in his nonchalant voice. "Okay, then we aren't together anymore." I concluded and he nodded, saying "It was fun." I nodded as well, "It was."

I suddenly felt Ahm picking me up and then toss me on the bed on my back. He started kissing me, he looked up and said "If I give you some dick, you'll never wanna leave." He boasted and I blushed "Then get up." I tried to push him but he pinned my arms down and kept kissing me. "You think I'ma let you go?" Ahm asked. "If you know better."

He kissed me and then he kissed my neck and those tingles started going throughout my body again. At first I stopped that heavy gasp that wanted to escaped, but he kept going and I couldn't help the sound that came out. Ahm looked up and said, "You like this?" I nodded, "Yes, so keep going." Ahm smirked then continued. Another gasp came out, I started to feel like I wanted more. "Lemme take care of you tonight baby." Ahm said and I nodded.
