-1974-

Her screams had stopped hours before, the silence almost seemed like a taunt. The room was bland and emotionless almost as though it had known what would happen. Laying in a bed, a bed that was practically drenched in coagulated blood laid a woman. Her skin almost see through, her hair a dark brown with hints of red. Her breaths had come to an end as soon has her miracle had been born. Unknowingly to the staff of the run down hospital their was a tall "man" in the room with her. He stood around 6"4, skinny limbs shook violently as he cradled the small child in her arms.
This wasn't suppose to happen. My fault. My fault. My fault. My fault...
A symphony of voiced danced through his head. It wasn't suppose to happen like this, he wasn't suppose to fall in love.
It had been 3 years before, there she stood. Her brown hair cascading down her back, eyes sharper than a knife. Her name was Sallie Dawcreek. Or in her town the outcast. Though her beauty was undoubtedly overpowering compared to the other woman, the men couldn't see past the lust for excitement and rebellion in her eyes. She had always been considered odd by her classmates. Unlike the girls her age she didn't dream of a perfect family or a simple job as a house wife. Her passion for life was too great. This is what got her in her foreseen end. It had been a breezy fall afternoon and with nothing better to do she ventured out into the forest. It wasn't unusual for her to wander far from Derry, the small town bored her. Her mind wandered and her legs kept walking, she didn't realize that it was almost night fall until she tripped over some sort of branch. Her knees hit the forest floor with a thud and as it did so she felt something alive her hand. She jumped into a sitting position and looked at her newly formed wound. With little detective work she found a sharp jagged piece of metal poking up from the ground. Her palm was cut but it wasn't too deep. After looking over the minor injury she turned back to walk home. As cheesy as it is she heard a branch snapping beside her, about 10 feet away. Her eyes traveled they were still adjusting to the darkness. A figure appeared, it... he was hiding behind a tree. Even from the distance she could tell that he was wearing some sort of clown suit. He was tall and lanky, bright red hair scattered in every direction. He seemed frightened.
"Excuse me! Sir are you ok, are you hurt?" She asked, slowly she made her way over carefully dodging rocks.
"Miss I'm ok please just go back." His voice slightly high pitched and scratchy, as if he had been crying.
"I'm not leaving until I know that you ok. It wouldn't be ethical of me to leave you here alone." Her voice softened. Finally she was now facing him. He was wearing a light grey clown outfit, there were scars from the corners of his mouth to the tops of his eyes but a blazing red covered them. Tear trains could still be seen on his cheeks and his eyes were red. Her heart thumped in her chest, he may have looked odd but there was something handsome about his appearance. One of his eyes was slightly off almost looking in a different direction, but it's his eye color that caught her. They were bright blue and a rich hazel. Enchanting would be the word to describe them. His hands were shaking and his body gave out and sinking against the tree, soon after it was raked with sobs. Sallie kneeled down and tried to comfort him. Now any other person would have probably walked away and made a run for it, Sallie on the other hand had a true heart of gold. Judgement before she truly knew someone wasn't an option. After a minute of crying he stopped and wiped his eyes.
"I'm sorry for this. Please you need to leave the forest now." His voice continued to shake.
"It's not your fault your upset, what happened?" She kneeled onto her knees.
"I-Ive done horrible things. I can't live like this anymore." One tear slid down his high cheekbone. "It's been to long, the life I am forced to live is destroying me."
"What is it that you did? It's not like I'm going to go around and spread your personal business to anyone."
"I can't tell you. I don't want you to be afraid, you wouldn't believe me anyway." He looked towards the ground.
"Well, I'd still like to hear it. What if I promise to listen, you can tell me your side of the story." She gave him a small smile.
"Ok. It started when I first came here, as a circus clown, the towns people would go every Friday to watch us perform. It grew boring just doing the same routine everyday so I went out in the woods. There was a drainpipe leading into the sewers and I went into it. I hit my head somewhere and when I woke up I was strapped down onto a table, a old woman had been chanting something. I had blacked out again and when I woke up everything was different. My face paint wouldn't come off, my costume can't be removed. The people I had once known were long gone. Unconsciously I would.. I-I would take the towns children and k-kill them. Then for as long as it goes I don't need to. I hide away and try and figure out how to fix this-this curse. I'm sorry if your afraid now or think I'm insane." His lip trembled and more tears flooded his beautiful eyes. Sallie stared in shock- she has been around long enough to remember when some of the kids in her 3rd grade class had started going missing. Her body shuddered remembering her friends and their family's moving away after their child disappeared. She looked back at him, his eyes focused on his hands.
"I believe you." Her voice was soft, but strong.
"You... you do?" His voice surprised, as if though he had no faith in her even still being next to him.
"This town has always struck me the wrong way, it has always been.. off. You seem generally terrified and your clothes do look more Victorian." She observed. A small smile passed his lips.
"I haven't had a real conversation with someone since the incident. Thank you for that, you know you can go now right? See I'm ok." He did jazz hands and and slowly stood up.
"Would it be ok if I came back tomorrow? I don't have many friends in town and you seem... intriguing." He looked like he would fall over at the idea.
"Well I mean if you wouldn't mind hanging out with a guy who can't recall taking children and who just had a mental breakdown in front of you." He smirked. She laughed and they made plans to meet the next day. This continued until she practically lived in the sewers with him, well it was more of a cozy home than a sewer. They had decorated the larger part of the sewer, fixed the leaks, and made it more of a home. Now of course Sallie still had to eat so she worked at a animal clinic during weekdays and went to her new home at night. Her and Weiss (w-i-s-e) were dating within 2 months of meeting each other. A year after Sallie became pregnant but 3 months into her pregnancy she miscarried. It was a breaking point in there relationship, they realized that this tragedy brought them closer together than before.
     -2 months later-
Sallie sat her bathroom floor holding the test. Positive. She take taken 4 and they all read the same. Her hands were shaking and tears streaked down her face, but a smile laid on her lips. She jumped up and made her way to the kitchen. At the table Weiss sat putting together a puzzle.
"Weiss." He looked up at her and showed him the test. He jumped up and hugged her.
"You did it Sallie!" She had done it.
-1974-
She was beautiful. Full lips and already a fiery attitude like her mom. Long red hair and big hazel eyes like her dad. If only Sallie were able to see their creation, their daughter. They had named her Beverly Jane, she was the only thing he had left. Quietly he stood up and left the building unnoticed by the staff, baby still in arms. He went to town and found a home, inside a woman and man eating dinner. Sallie had told him about the Marsh's and how they were never able to conceive. His gentle eyes looked down at his daughter.
"I love you. I'll come back one day." He kissed her small forehead, placed her on the doorstep in front of the home, rang the bell and sprinted off. This is where the adventure begins.
