Alexis

That night I dreamed about my mother again. I dreamed about the doorbell ringing, Crow’s cold grey eyes, and the gun. Except this time, as I was holding my mom, praying that she wouldn’t slip away from me, she turned into Erik.

“Yes,” Crow whispered, laughing. “I found him. Everyone you love is in danger. After your father, I’m coming for you.”

The evil glint in his eyes grew larger as he shouted, “I’m coming for you!”

“Alexis!”

As my eyes came into focus, I saw Erik leaning over me, concern written all over his face.

“Oh my God. Oh my God,” was all I could say.

“Alexis, are you ok? What happened?” Erik demanded, his voice getting more scared with every word.

“Oh my God you’re alright!” I flung my arms around his neck. Surprised, he just sat there. I quickly removed my arms.

“Sorry,” I muttered, my sweat drenched face turning red.

“What happened?” he asked again.

“I had a dream that you... That you were killed. By Crow. And that he was going to kill my father and then,” I stopped. “And then he was going to kill me.”

“Hey, hey, it’s alright. I’m safe, you’re safe. It’s ok.”

“But it’s not! I’m so scared that he’s gonna find us!” I cried, tears threatening to flow. I wiped my eyes angrily.

“I think it’s time you told me what’s going on,” he said softly.

I looked up at him, into his beautiful brown eyes, and nodded.

“Wait, really?” he asked, his eyes wide with disbelief.

“Yes, you have the right to know,” I said with a sigh. “I just can’t believe I’m actually going to tell you. I’ve never told anyone. No one! Ever!”

“There’s a first time for everything,” he said with a little smile.

I rolled my eyes. “That’s so cliché.”

“I know,” he shrugged. “I just figured it worked.”

“Yeah I guess...” I trailed off.

“Are you gonna tell me?”

“Yeah, I just don’t know where to start.”

“How about the beginning?” he said with a smile.

I lifted an eyebrow. “Another cliché?”

He shrugged again.

I didn't know how to start. What was I doing? I was going to tell my horrible story, part of me that no one knew about, to I boy I just met. A boy I loved. A boy I was trying to keep safe. I was crazy. I took a deep breath, and began.

“It all started when I was ten. At least, that’s when it started for me. I remember it like it was yesterday. Although maybe that’s because I’ve never dreamed about anything else. It was 11 o'clock at night, and I was just falling asleep when the doorbell rang. Me, being a curious little ten year old, got up to see who it was. It was a man I’d never seen before. Peter Crow.”

“The-” Erik started.

“Don’t interrupt me please! I may never keep going!” I snapped in a joking way.

“Sorry. Continue.”

“Anyways, it was Peter Crow. Both my parents seemed to recognize him, and neither seemed to happy to see him. He started asking them for something, and they played dumb. He pulled out a gun and,” I gulped. “He shot my mother. She died that night, but before she passed, she gave me this.” At this point, I pulled out my necklace. I was almost positive he had never seen it before. “My dad was trying to fight off Crow, but Crow had two other men with him. My dad was hopelessly outnumbered.  I stood up, and suddenly my necklace exploded into blue light and-”
