I was making dinner for me and my dad, he was still at work.

My dad and I live far away from everything, it takes at least 30 minutes until we're in town. We live next to a lake and the woods, it's really peaceful here.

A lot of people are fishing or doing some water sports on the lake or walking and biking in the woods. I barely know people, I don't know anything of what's going on in the world. I don't mind because I'm raised here, my mom died when I was 8 years old, so I live alone with my dad. I got home schooled by my dad, he was a teacher when I was younger. I got my diploma a week ago, so now I'm working at home, when my dad gets home from his work he doesn't have to do anything. By the way, my name's Emma.

"Hey sweetheart, I'm home" my dad said, "Hey dad, how was work ?" I questioned as he gave a kiss on my cheek and grabbed a beer "good, there wasn't much work today, that's why I'm home so early" he said as he sat down by the kitchen table "What did you do today ?" he asked, "Same as always. Cleaning, cooking and chilling" I sighed deeply.

I like living here, but sometimes I get so bored, there's nothing to do around here. Our internet broke couple months ago and my dad still didn't fixed it, which is driving me insane.

"When are you going to fix the internet or do you want me to die of boredom ?" I asked putting our meal on the kitchen table.

"I don't know Emma, I'm a working man. I don't have so much time" he said and started eating "You have time now" I replied slightly pissed.

"I'ma do it tomorrow when I get back from fishing with Loris" he said.

Every Saturday he went out fishing with his best mate, Loris. They have known each other since they were teens. Loris lives in London City so everyday he goes to the store for us and buys us everything we need. He's fishing here almost everyday, he's a good kid.

"Why do you suddenly want internet again?" my dad asked me after a long silence.

"Come on dad, I don't have real friends. I can't contact my internet friends, I don't know what's going at the other side of the lake or outside the woods" I replied annoyed.

Some kids who are on the internet like every second and think they don't have a life, but obviously I'm the person who doesn't have one.

I cleaned the table as my dad grabbed another beer and settled down in the couch "Loris is coming over tonight, it's an important football game" he said, this means it will be noisy until the football game is over, they will be screaming and cheering. I really don't get the cool thing about it. I'm lucky we still got a TV, but we don't get a lot of channels. Only a sport channel, some animal channel and CNN. That's it, pretty cool living next to lake and the woods isn't it ? How older I get, how more it's annoying me. I never got the chance to go to the prom or give a graduated party, or my sweet 16 no one was here, we didn't even celebrate it, we don't celebrate birthdays. Sometimes it's really annoying me, but at the other side my dad did a great job raising me. He taught me to be happy with what I have, which is not a lot.

"Hey Emma" Loris said as he entered our living room "Hey" I replied short, I wasn't in a very good mood to be honest, I got my ups and downs just like every other teenager.

Only they have their friends, family or their boyfriend/girlfriend to cheer them up. I never had a boyfriend before, so you must understand how boring my life actually is.

It's been years ago since I went to town, the closest city I live by is London. It's a whole other world than the place I live. The football game started, they were already cheering, I rolled my eyes. I will never get this thing between boys and football, that will always be one big query to me.
