(A/N For those who have not read 'The Cask of amontillado' by Edgar Allan Poe I would suggest you read that first to better understand this. Also this will only be in Montresor's point of view. - The Queen)

What happened to Montresor in The End?

With haste, I hurried along the long passages. I journeyed alone passing the familiar walls and casks and racks that I had pasted not long ago with Fortunato. His face still present in my mind, long forgotten by his friends and the Lady Fortunato. All have forgotten but I. Only I will ever know the truth of Fortunato.

Tink Ta-Tink Tink The sounds of bells ring about the darkened passage.

Who Is there? I call out to the darkness behind the shadows. I receive no answer in the long tense silence. Pulling my cloak tighter to my skin I continue on. The cool air kissed my face with a feathery touch. My steps echoed along the cavern halls singing with the water as it dripped from the riverbed above. My thoughts returned to that of my lost friend.

Oh, Fortunato, The man who had it all but never had enough. He truly lived the most of life. A lovely wife, a strong home, endless forton, a wealthy vine yard. But it was never enough. It was never enough for that wealthy good hearted fool.

He!he!he! bellowed through the cavern. I spun around to face the intruder.

Who is there! Show yourself! I called, The echo replied to the quiet.

Yourself,yourself, yourself.

My heart raced in its cage of bone. I drew my saber from my side. Footsteps raced behind me heading to my vaults.

Halt! I hurried down after the intruder the shadows hiding my sight. I could hear them again.

Tink Ta-Tink Tink The bells loud at my back. Not stilling my legs I glanced over my shoulder into the chasing black. Nothing could be seen. Tink Ta-Tink Tink Ta-Tink The sound deafening in my ears. The pounding of steps slamming into my skull. Then I tripped.

Down I fell onto the unforgiving cavern floor. Rocks like spears penetrated my flesh, tearing into my arm and side drawing forth the warmth of blood onto my skin. I scream as the ground ripped my face. Another scream joins with my own. This scream haunting, as that of one beyond death. The scream joining that of the bells and steps. The laugh mocking me as I lay panting in the dirt. Forcing myself to my feet I ran.

I ran past the casks of wines, I ran passed the blackened staircases. I ran past empty archways.

I ran.

The footsteps never leaving my side. Their steps falling but never stirring dust.

The laugh, He! He! He! nipping at my back. It's volume thundering in the cavern.

The Tink Ta Tink of the bells swishing around my head.

The fear, I could feel it suffocating my body. I clamped my palms to my ears as I ran. The blood which stained my skin warmed my ears. The warmth being oddly comforting as it oozed from the rips of my flesh. My vision turning a shade of translucent red blood fell from my brow. Fear held ever more tightly. The sounds still crippling my body as I try to fight them from my mind.

Leave me be! I screamed out. These sounds mingled into a thunderous roar.

Yourself, Yourself, Yourself,

STOP THIS! The haunting chased me as I continued to blindly flee in the cavern until-

WHAM.
