    “Doctor Weiss?”

Another doctor called, “Doctor Blake will see you now.” I had just arrived to the NYC- MEC and they were already treating me like some kind of patient. But then again I am a younger doctor, considering I skipped my freshman and sophomore year of high school so I ended up graduating early. My parents were over the moon about that because it would mean they wouldn’t pay a lot of money for my college education. But they still weren’t to excited to send me a whole three hours away from them. So I guess you can imagine their reactions when I told them that I was sent to the NYC-MEC.

The doctor and I then entered a large office on the top floor of the hospital. We were then greeted by a rather tall man with dark brown hair that was slicked back, grey eyes, and was wearing a grey suit and green tie. He gave us a friendly smile and waved the other doctor away so it was just us in the office.

“Doctor Weiss, I presume? It’s wonderful to make your acquaintance. I’m doctor Robert Blake, and I run this hospital.” he said shaking my hand “I understand you were a student at the medical school in Atlanta, Georgia am I correct?”

I shook my head yes, “That’s right, I am a graduate of the Atlanta Medical Academy.”  I didn't really understand why he was asking me this, it was on my job application.

“Oh how intriguing, I went to Harvard myself, but enough about me, tell me about yourself. I always try to get to know all the new members our team here,” he said as he showed me to a seat across from his desk. “Why don’t we start with your name.”

I gave him a slight smile to hide the fact that I was a nervous wreck, “Well, my name is Eris Marie Weiss, I was born on June 3 in 1993 in a small town in Georgia called Watterson Grove. I’m the oldest of five kids, I have two brothers and two sisters, and for as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a doctor.” I said to my new boss who was treating this more like an interview than a get to know your new employee session. A little offended I continued, “I skipped two years of high school and went to college majoring in health and medicine.”

He nodded, impressed “Wow, that’s quite the background. I would’ve never expected someone as young as you to be as smart as you claim to be. Well I hope you enjoy your time here at the NYC-MEC. Thank you for coming to speak with me, you will receive your doctor’s uniform soon for now your fine working in what you’re wearing right now.” he said with the same smile he gave me when he first saw me.

I smiled back at him “Thank you sir, it’s been an honor.” not knowing exactly what else to say. We shook hands and he held the door open for me to leave like a gentlemen would. As I left I heard him mumble “Unbelievable, she’s only twenty-four years old.” and the door closed. I walked down the hall back to the main room where I waited when I first arrived. I looked around to see many doctors and nurses scrambling around taking patients to hospital rooms, bring medicine to other doctors, surgeons preparing to go to work, and chaos emerging from the left wing of the hospital. Almost every doctor and nurse rushed to the scene, something serious must have happened because when the chaos subsided from around me everyone was gone even the janitor. It didn’t matter though, my first day was starting and they probably needed all the help they could get.

I started heading out of the norm and into the chaos.
