As always I walked to school alone, usually but today I was actually looking foward to school knowing I will finally meet Shawn. I woke up early this morning to make sure I looked presentable and actually did my hair and makeup. I wore my favorite The 1975 sweater with some black leggings and my black vans. My long brown hair was straightened to death and is probably completely dead now.
As I walked up to my locker I heard Jacob's voice getting closer and closer. I didn't turn around and just continued to put my books in my locker and grab my biology book because that was my first class of the day. I slammed my locker to find Jacob and Shawn standing right next to me, I nearly jumped out of my own skin. Shawn was wearing a green long sleeved plaid shirt with khakis and black vans, I couldn't help but stare.
"About time you noticed us standing here, did we scare you?" Jacob and Shawn stood there laughing at me. I couldn't help but look over to Shawn who was even more perfect up close, I caught myself starring once he made eye contact so I look to Jacob who was smirking at me.
"Violet, this is Shawn. Shawn, this is little bitch. She lives across the street from you." I gave Jacob a death glare and said hi to Shawn and he said hey. All three of us walked to class together in awkward silence until Shawn spoke up.
"Do you guys mind if I sit with you guys at lunch? I don't exactly know anyone yet." Shawn asked nervously.
"Of course you can, right Jacob?"
"Yeah I guess since it's your first day." I nudged Jacob in the shoulder causing him to straighten up his back as we walked into biology.
During class today we were going over the guidelines of a project we are being assigned. The project groups are just two people so I'm either going to be with Jacob or Shawn. As soon as our teacher told us to pair up, Jacob ran off to his friend Aaron, leaving Shawn and I by ourselves.
"Guess we are partners then." I told Shawn. He just nodded in agreement and gave me a quick half smile before we took our seats next to each other in the back of the room. The class itself went by quickly, but it was probably because I wasn't paying attention and ended up falling asleep. I was woken up by someone poking me, it was Shawn.
"Hey, you were asleep but Mr. Brian said it's an out of school project, so do you want to meet up later?" He asked.
"Sure, come over to my house around 3:30 and we can get started on it."
"Okay I will see you then."
Once school let out I walked home as usual but didn't make any macaroni, I just cleaned my room for when Shawn was going to come over in an hour. My parents wouldn't be home so I wouldn't have to worry about them embarrassing me. I heard someone open the front door, it was only 3:00, it was too early Shawn wouldn't do that. Then I heard who it was.
'Violet! Party is here!" It was Jacob. Great. I walked down the stairs to see him and Aaron standing there.
"What are you guys doing here? Shawn is coming over to work on our project."
"That's why we are here, we are working on our project too. We thought it would be easier to work here since no ones home."
"Fine you guys can have the basement but please just let Shawn and I get our work done." I groaned in annoyance.
"Mhm, what kind of work?" Jacob smirked. I punched him in the shoulder and they headed down to the basement. I waited a few more minutes until I heard a knock at the front door. I opened the door to find Shawn standing there. I didn't notice how much taller he is than me, he must be at least 6 ft.
"Are you ready to start our project?" Shawn asked nervously. I laughed a little and asked him to come in as we headed up to my room. In the back off my mind I was hoping something would happen but I knew my chances were slim. He was perfect and I was me. We sat on my bed on our laptops researching the genetics of wildlife which was our topic. After a while I could tell he was bored.
"Do you want to take a break?" I asked him.
"Please", he chuckled. We sat there and talked for a little bit. I found out he was from Canada and his sister's name was Aaliyah. He wasn't like other guys that lived here, he actually respected girls and wasn't a douche. He was down to earth. And I liked him. Shit. I kept getting lost in his eyes while he was talking, I swore I saw him lick his lips at least twice. We went back to work and I noticed that he was on his phone, I looked over and saw him playing some game so I took it.
"Give it back!" He yelled.
"No, we need to at least get one fourth of this project done!" We did need to get some work done, we took too long of a break. Without noticing Shawn tackled me trying to get his phone back. I layed on top of it. Soon enough he began to tickle me, damn it. He leaned in closer and closer until he was only an inch away from my face, I could feel his warm breath hitting my face.
"May I please have my phone back?" He was getting closer by the second. I shook my head and all of a sudden I heard laughing and my door flung open,it was Jacob and Aaron.
"Hey Violet guess what... oh shit" All they saw was Shawn straddling me on my bed centimeters away from my face.
Jacob and Aaron both exchanged confused looks as Shawn turned pale and quickly threw himself off of me and I handed him his phone back. He said thanks and took his laptop and left. Jacob and Aaron just stood there waiting for me to explain what just happened.
"It wasn't what it looked like, I took his phone and he was trying to get it back, he doesn't even like me." I explained but they both just looked puzzled and then they started laughing.
"Looked like more than him trying to get his phone back if you ask me." Aaron said looking over at Jacob who nodded in agreement.
"He likes you, I can tell." Jacob smirked. I knew Shawn would never like me, would he? Nah, I'm me and he's Shawn, it wouldn't work. After tonight, I don't know how long it will take for it not to be awkward anymore. I knew one thing I wasn't excited for biology tomorrow.
