Jonathan groaned, sitting up from his bed. He sighed, regretting what he said to Sock that night. But Sock knew it was a joke, right? Right. Probably.
He furrowed his eyebrows together when he couldn't find Sock anywhere in the room, which was usually how his mornings went. Jonathan looked at his alarm clock and choked on his yawn when he saw it was 10:03 AM; 3 hours late for school.
He jumped out of bed and raced downstairs, grabbing his hoodie and slipping it on. When he came downstairs, he stopped when he saw Sock sitting criss-crossed in the air, a smirk on his face.
"What's the matter Johnny? Late for school?" He sneered, and Jonathan's eyes widened at his tone. Sock usually only pestered him, not mess up his day.
"You- you changed my alarm clock?" He asked, squinting his eyes at Sock. Sock let out a laugh, and tilted his head to the side.
"Who else would've done it? You're imaginary friend?" Sock cackled, dissipating into green flame and popping up next to Jonathan.
"But let's be honest here. There's no one else to do anything like that. It's not like you have any friends or family that care enough to even pull a prank on you! You're just a bystander to everyone." Jonathan uncomfortably grabbed his arm, inching away from Sock, who was smirking devilishly, his head resting in his palm.
"Even your mother and father don't like you.Why else do you think they go on 'business trips' or 'vacations' every month or so for, what? 5 months?" Sock sneered. Jonathan stayed quiet, backing away from Sock now.
"What's the matter Johnny? I thought you said I sucked at my job. Do I suck at my job now?" Sock said, the world around them suddenly erupting in green flames. Sock was now much larger than Jonathan, and picked him up by his hoodie. Jonathan was squirming, rather terrified now.
"Did you honestly expect me to stay all buddy-buddy with you? I'm supposed to get you to kill yourself. So play-times over, sunshine. Have a wonderful flight~" Sock smirked, and dropped Jonathan, watching him fall. As Jonathan hit the floor, he was back in his kitchen, on the floor breathing heavily, and Sock was no where in sight.
Jonathan quickly lost his appetite and rushed out the door, grabbing his backpack on the way out of the door, and he began to run to school. When he got there, the principle asked why he was so late, and only earned a shaky response from Jonathan,
"Sorry. Alarm clock got messed up."
