I try to keep as quiet as I can without waking up my mother from her good night's sleep. So I thought she was asleep, "Corie, in the kitchen, now." Dang, I thought to myself, I'm dead. "You're late," she stated as she was leaning on the kitchen counter with her arms crossed. "I know, Mom. Sorry, i just lost track of time. Jake and i didnt even make it to the park until around 9:50." She told me that we would talk about it in the morning since she was so wore out from her day at work. I gave her a nod and walked down the hall to my bedroom.
I wake up at around 8 in the morning. The sun's rays shine through my beddoom window into the main part of my room. Yes, if you are wondering, it can get annoying when I'm trying to do something in the middle of my floor with the sun in my eyes. I get out of bed and open my door to reveal an empty hallway and the smell of bacon and pancakes. My mother always like to make a morning breakfast for me, even after she is mad or disappionted in me.
I sit at the counter, not wanting to talk about last night just yet. My mother grabs a plate, symbolizing that breakfast is ready. I get up without a word, and get a plate from the cabinet.
Mother fixes her plate without looking at me. She puts turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, and thick, fluffy pancakes on her plate. My mother was a pretty good cook. Dad and I keep telling her that she should open a resturant someday, but she doesn't believe that she is a good cook.
After I get the bacon and eggs on my plate, I grab the pancake from the pan. I start pouring the surup.
"No butter?" my mom askes.
"Not today. I'm not in a butter mood..."
"Oh ok."
I pause before asking, "Are you wanting to talk about last night?" I actually dont want to know the answer, but it's going to come up at some piont today. "All I'm going to tell you right now is listen to me when I tell you something. It really hurts me when you dont listen or forget."
I dont normally disobey my mom, and even when I do, it's something small.
I finish getting ready for school say goodbye to my mom and walk out of the door.
