The warm, comforting scent of noodles wafted gently into Suki's nose as she lay curled up on a cushion of worn floral fabric. Soft poofs of sunlight drifted like smoke through the windows. The golden powder settled in a beautiful essence on the single vintage couch in the modest home. Colorful strips of flowered cloth streamed across the gentle cream walls and strands of glittering crystal beads hung at various lengths from the ceiling.
Yes, she was happy, so happy.
She lifted herself from the ground, steadied herself carefully, as she had laid watching the sun rays dance for so long. She stretched her legs and paced to the beaten screen door tat led out to the back porch. Easing herself down, Suki's haunches protruded from her egg-shaped body position as she settled to look out at the dry, brown patches of grass as they billowed across the barren earth. It didn't matter that the yard was so unkempt and dry. She preferred the company of the soft, old carpet anyways.
