There they were in the park. The same park he was stabbed in. He wasn't afraid of the park. Neither was she.
His parents, on the other hand, were much too afraid of this park. They were so afraid that they bought him an old Subaru. His parents hope that he'll use it to drive to a better location to hang out at. He still loved this little park, so driving somewhere else wasn't necessary.
She decided to not tell him about her suicide attempt. Nor the abuse. Nor the rumors at school. He hasn't been to school, yet. It was Saturday, but he can wait.
Even while he was with her, she still felt sad. She was too sad to function normally, but she tried her best. Her mind was clotted with suicide. She was always thinking about different ways to go out. Knives, pills, ropes, water, and guns were glorified as an escape.
He was completely content and assumed she was, too. He was innocently naive about her. Sure, he knew her favorite color and what she enjoys to a point where her could write a book about it, but he didn't know her brain.
He started talking about how great it was to be out of the damn hospital. She heard it all, but wasn't listening. She wanted to go out in a way that someone couldn't reverse if they found her fast enough.
A gun was the most obvious, but her family doesn't believe in guns. She could fill the tub and drown herself, but she thought she would come up for air by instinct. Pills could be thrown up. A noose was iffy, what if she blacked out and was found before she died and was brought back? Then she thought of the geography of the area.
"This is interesting and all, but are there any cliffs around here? I think here is, but I'm not sure."
"Yeah, there is. Why?"
"Oh, just thinking about photography. A cliff would make for a nice picture, wouldn't it?"
"Yeah. Hey, maybe we could go up there tomorrow and have a picnic."
"Sounds, uh, nice."
"You don't want to go?"
"I do, but I'm not sure. I don't even have a nice camera."
"It's fine. I'll pick you up at seven."
"Okay. Hey, do you ever not want to be you?"
"Sometimes."
"We should make up alternate identities for ourselves."
"Sure. Let's do it at out picnic tomorrow. I have to get going, though."
This was it. She now knew how she was going to leave the realm of the living. It warmed her heart knowing nobody will be able to save her.
Even though he left, she wasn't ready to leave. She lied back on the grass and observed the rolling clouds. Each cloud was a puffy mass of water moving with the wind. She watched for so long that she fell asleep.
This was it. He now knew how she was going to be his girlfriend. It warmed his heart knowing she could have someone to love forever.
She was awakened by an over joyed couple that was out running. They had too large of smiles for her liking. She was informed that it was starting to get dark and was advised to get a jump start on her journey home.
The next night she waited by the front door. She waited until she heard two honks.
