The weekend flew by and I soon found myself rushing my children out the door to enter school.
As I adjusted my children's booster seats and put them in the car, I soon forget that it was Nuh's turn to bring snacks for the students in his class.
"Yes, sweetie I know I forgot, I'll drop you off at school and go get them as soon as I can."
When we arrived at the school, I grabbed a hold of Amara and Nuh's hands and hurriedly took them to class.
"I am so sorry Mrs.Hunter, I need to go back and get the class' snack. I just forgot all about it this morning because we woke up late and I had to get them dressed all whi-"
"Calm down Alia! It's fine, I understand that you're a single mother raising two children on your own. I'll tell you what, go to work and don't bother with the snacks. You can get them tomorrow!" She laughed gently and guided me out the door.
"Thank you so much Mrs.Hunter!" I then walked fast down the long hallway, making sure I wouldn't be late.
"Oh and Alia?" Mrs.Hunter called out.
I turned around gaining her attention.
"Good luck today" I smiled at her as she walked into class and ran down the hall, pretending I didn't hear the man telling me to stop.

When I arrived into the office, I looked up bewildered as to how beautiful this place was. There was a huge glass ceiling and everywhere I looked, people were talking, laughing or just working in their cubicles. The place looked very friendly and I couldn't wait to step foot into my new office.
I guess I was in my own little world for a couple minutes because the next thing I knew, someone was waving their hands out in front of me. I looked to see a pretty lady with a black pencil skirt and white button up shirt tucked in.
"Hi, my name is Matilda and I assume you are Alia, correct?"
I smiled and reached out to shake her hand, "Yes I am, it's a pleasure to meet you Matilda."
She smiled back and told me to follow her to Mr.Hall's office. When we arrived, I prayed to God that we would not get off on the wrong foot and maybe-just maybe-he might be nice to me again.
When the doors opened, Matilda gave me pat on the back, whispered good luck to me, and sped off in a hurry. Geez, I'm guessing many people are terrified of him.
"You're late." He simply said then walked back into his office, not bothering to care for an explanation.
"I'm sorry Mr.Hall but I was dropping off my children."
"That's no excuse! I have a child of my own and did I take him to school then got here on time? Yes I did, so stop it and go get me a cup of coffee before I really go off on you!"
I snorted, really go off on me?! As if he wasn't yelling at me loud enough!
He quickly turned around, facing me. "Excuse me?"
I was about to tell him off when I realized it was just my first day here and I shouldn't do this. I really needed this job and this jerk wouldn't get the satisfaction of me quitting.
I quickly smiled and said "Nothing sir" while putting on my fakest smile.
"Oh Allah, please help me with this man." I murmed to myself as I went to make him a cup of coffee.
