According to Saraiah, the interviews were the most important part of all this. They show the world who you are, which is what I'm afraid of. I have to admit, I'm really not the most interesting person in the world, and I'll probably should stupid and immature. And the worst part is, there's nothing definate about it. Anything could happen, anything. On the tv in the corner if the room, Aiden, has just finished his interview. After sitting in my dressing room, adjusting my shimmering grey metallic suit, the stage director bursts in and sternly tells me its time to go. I walk up onstage, just to see Fabriel Flickerman, the host, smiling fake,y at me as I walk slowly towards him. I try my best to fake a smile, although I'm sure everyone can let how nervous i am.
He says, "welcome Haymitch!"
I nod, not sure what to say.
"So, how's it been since you arrived at the Capitol?" He says, his eyes boring into my soul.
"It's very nice, very nice," I say nervously.
An extremely awkward silence passes as Fabriel thinks of a response. He never finds anything to say I suppose because he hastily moves on to the next question.
"Tell me, did you by any chance know any of the other tributes from your district before the reaping?"
Of course I didn't want to tell him about how much i dislike two of the other tributes, so that leaves me talking about Maysilee.
"Um, ya," I say. "Maysilee Donner was a good friend of mine back in district 12."
"Oh, well it must be nice having a friend with you in times like this," he replies.
What's he talking about?! It's not nice at all! In fact, it's horrifying that in a few days, I'm going to have to kill her! Ugh, but I can't say that here. I have to stay positive.
I guess I took a longer pause than I thought while I was thinking.
"Um, hello?" Fabriel says.
"Oh sorry, um, ya, it is sort of nice to have a companion."
He chuckles quietly. "You reming me so much of my son, Ceasar. He can't pay attention for all of 10 seconds!"
A round of laughter circles throughout the audience and I fake a laugh too so he won't see how stunned I am.
"Well, that's Haymitch Abernathy for ya!"
I'm sent off the stage and back into my dressing room. I plop down on the couch and watch as Anna skips up onto the stage, smiling and waving. She may be mean, but she sure knew how to sell it like she's the nicest person there ever was. She answers all the questions exactly how any perfect teenaged girl would and waves one last time as she leaps off the stage.
Then, Maysilee nervously walks up on stage. She's wearing a long, flowy, blue dress with sparkles all over, with a matching flower pin in her long, golden hair. She almost trips over the hem of her dress. Wow, she must be as nervous as I was. Mesmerized by the elegance if her dress, I hardly listen to the question she is asked. It doesn't really matter to me anyways. I should try not to get too attached when she's going to die anyways, but then again, so am I.
