Meet Mrs. Solace
"Do I have to Will?" Nico whined for the 100th time.
"Nico we have been dating for a month I have met hades you have met Apollo you can meet my mom." Will replied for the 100th time.
Nico sighed and grabbed Wills hand before shadow traveling. "No underworldly stuff Nico!" Will yelled as he tried not to faint. "Did you want to take a 6 hour bus ride or a giant dog? Those were the other options" Nico replied. "Fine but you have to give me a kiss to make it up to me." Will said as he kissed Nico. Nico smiled and slammed his fist into Will's gut making him double over.
"I would tell you off for punching my son but something tells me he deserved it." Mrs. Solace said causing Nico to jump and turn bright red. "Sorry ma'am." He said quickly. She laughed "call me Naomi and please I was about to punch him myself since he never visits me. I am assuming that you are a demigod too."
"I'm Nico Di Angelo son of Hades." He said. She wrapped him in a hug before walking over to Will and kissing him on the cheek. Will hugged her and kissed her back. "
Nice to meet you Nico. Are you a friend of Will?"
"Mom we are dating" Will said.
Naomi put a hand on Nico's shoulder. "I'm sorry." She said jokingly.
"Now let's go inside dinner is on the stove. Will I want you to meet your step dad and sisters. Nico I want you to eat with us then I want to share embarrassing stories about Will. He may look all grown up and handsome now but he was a funny looking kid." Naomi said
. "Ok..." Nico said, overwhelmed.
"Mom who's this?" An 12 year old girl said running out the door. "It's my son Will and Nico, tell your father they are here." Naomi said. The girl nodded and ran inside. "They don't know about the demigods. And they are Christian it helps hide the scent. Don't worry they are not overly religious and they think I'm atheist" She explained.
"Ok." Will said as he went into the house. Naomi faces Nico.
"It's obvious my son likes you. Son of hades or not I will personally send you to hell if you break his heart." Nico nodded and she smiled. "
Welcome to the family." She said kissing him on the cheek.
"Mom don't kill Nico!" Will yelled from inside the house. She smiled and winked and Nico walked inside the house for dinner. Naomi right behind him. As Nico walked inside the aroma of food hit him. There was fresh chicken with mashed potatoes salad and of course sweet tea. There were two girls already at the table and a man over the stove. "Hi you must be Will and Nico, I'm Matt Naomi's husband these are my two daughters Charlotte and Chloe." He said. "Nice to meet you." Will said politely Nico didn't respond he was inhaling the scent of a home cooked meal.
"If you inhale any harder I think that things will fly into your nose." Will said to Nico.
"It's been over 75 years since I have had a home cooked meal." He muttered to Will in Greek. "Really?" Will responded.
"I was in a hotel for most of it it was greasy fast food and it was amazing. Then I was traveling then I was kidnapped  and then I have only been to camp so yeah I haven't really had a home cooked meal." Nico responded
. "You poor dear! I will bring you as much food as you want!" Naomi said in Greek. Nico and Will looked at her shocked.
"Can't I learn another language?" She said in English.
"Ok guys can we possibly speak in another language like English?" Chloe who was 16 said.
"Sorry dear we were just talking about food."
"Dinners ready!" Matt called setting food down on the table. Nico slid into a chair next to Will.
"We say grace before eating is that ok with you?" Matt asked. "Yeah it's fine." Will said slowly. They all held hands. As Matt was saying grace Nico and Will were frantically muttering don't kill us under their breath. Charlotte seemed to have heard them and looked at them oddly. Once grace was over they all made their plates and started eating.
"So Will how is your boarding school going."
Will shot a look to Naomi and she winked.
"It's good we actually met a school like us only they are from Roman descent." Will said causing Naomi to cough
. "Really?" She said.
"Yeah we had a rivalry but Nico and the leader of the other school with an adult supervisor brought a statue to our camp as a peace offering. Then we teamed up to fight another school who wanted to dominate them all." Will said, trying to make it seem like he wasn't talking about almost dying a few times.
"Did you beat the other school?" Charlotte asked.
"Yeah we did thanks to Nico we dominated them."
Will said.
"what sport did you beat then at?" Chloe said.
"Horseback riding." I said the same time Nico replied with karate. "I do both sports." He explained quickly.
"I do horseback riding too." Charlotte said happily.
"Really? My sister Hazel is better at it but she goes to the other school."
"Is Hazel older or younger than you."
Will stifled a laugh. Nico started counting on his fingers. "I think I'm older I don't really know we would have to ask our dad." He said.
"How do you not know your age?" Chloe scoffed.
"It's a long story basically we just met I was traveling the world and I met Hazel then. I didn't know my dad had a daughter." Nico said.
"That's nice." Matt said awkwardly.
"Anyway we have the guest room setup, there are two beds." Naomi said.
"Mom actually Nico and I sleep together."
Will said. "Not like that!" Nico yelled his face bright red. "I get nightmares and Will helps with them."
Nico explained. "I'm sure he helps with something." Naomi laughed. "Mom!!!" Will yelled.
Nico sank into his seat even further, shadows circling around him. "Don't you think about it death boy!" Will yelled sensing that Nico was about to shadow travel away from this cursed dinner.
"So you're like gay?" Chloe asked with disgust.
"Chloe be nice." Matt chided. "But it's like weird." Chloe said. Everyone looked down at their plates. Nico was trying very hard not to summon skeletons and Will was trying not to blind everybody. After a quick Awkward dinner Naomi brought Will and Nico to the guest room to catch up. After they explained to Naomi everything that happened to them. She hugged Nico for a very long time. "Umm mom Nico is my boyfriend not yours." Will said. "Dear he survived what others couldn't begin to believe. I can hug him for as long as I want and Nico dear don't say that you don't do hugs because I'm not going to stop hugging you.
"Moooom!" Will whined. Though Nico didn't say so he felt safe in Naomi's arms. She was warm and sweet and he could see why Apollo liked her.
"Anyway why don't you two boys get ready for bed as I make you some warm cookies and Milk. And don't say you are too old for that Will I'm a doctor and I am prescribing them to you." She said walking out of the room.
"She is awesome." Nico said as he shrugged his shirt off and turned around to change into flannel bottoms. " yeah she was a doctor for a traveling carnival and also sung bluegrass once in awhile. Will turned around and changed as well.
Nico in his black and grey flannel and Will with his bright yellow and grey. They crawled into bed Will wrapping Nico in his arms. Who quickly put up a barricade of pillows. "Here you go dears." She said putting the cookies and milk on the sheets. "You need to talk to Percy's mom about cookie recipes, here's a coin you guys would get along." Nico said. "Nico you didn't give me a coin when we I was lost in the woods and you give my mom a coin." "I like your mom." "I'm your boyfriend." "And?" Will sighed and Naomi took the empty glasses and plates. "Goodnight dears."
"Night mom" Will said. Nico didn't reply he was already fast asleep...
In the morning Nico woke up to Will on top of him. Somehow Will had managed to crawl over the pillows wrap his leg under Nico's body and his other leg was thrown over Nico. His arms were hugging Nico and his cheek was pressed to Nico's forehead. Nico sighed, he loved Will but really wished he didn't sleep like a cuddly leech. After several minutes of trying to shake Will awake he gave up. He decided to do the one thing he knew would make Will get up. He reached for Wills curls and have them a good hard yank. Will screamed like a cat who was just splashed with water. So loud in fact Nico was startled and shadowed traveled taking Will with him. The day went worse from  there.
