I had just finished unpacking my things and preparing my books and notebooks for my first day of classes. Since it was my first day ever in college I had to be well prepared. I had organized all my books by order of the days I needed them.
Manchester University was the best university in the country in the course I always dreamt of: economics and I was very proud to say that I had been accepted there and now was officialy one of their students. I grabbed my phone that had been forgotten all afternoon and shearch in my small contact list for my mothers name and press the green button to call her.
We were always really close, and since she and my dad divorced we became more because I was the only person she had. We talk about everything, I don't keep anything from her and she treats me like I'm her best friend even though she does her part as a mother. She stayed in London when I came to Manchester, so now she lives alone. My father has a new family and almost never calls me so we don't talk that much but I'm already used to it so it's like I don't have a father.
My mother is really fragile so I was a little bit afraid when I accepted in this University because I didn't want to leave her alone, even though she was always at work we always talked at night and sometimes we slept together in the same bed. But she always wanted me to hava a bright future and better that hers so she insisted for me to come here, to Manchester.
- Hi mom!
- Hi Mag. Have you prepared everything for your first day of classes? I'm so proud of you, my dear!
-I have already finished unpacking things and I was just calling to know if you're okay in your first day by your own.
- Of course I am, Don't worry about me, my dear, just focus on college and classes ok?- Even though we are very close I hate it when she starts to pressure me because of my grades, it seems like if Ilower my grades I'm not her daughter anymore or something like that.
- Sure mom. Bye I need to rest.
Do that, my dear. Remember, don't distract yourself with parties and friends.
As soon as I ended the phone call I went to bed 'cause I needed to get up really early the next day to find my classroom.
The next day I woke up really early to make sure that I would get in time to my class. I dressed up with baggy clothes so that I could be confortable during all day, grab my books and my backpack and go to a cafe to eat breakfast. I call the bartender and ask for a croissant and milk, as soon as I finish eating I try to find my classroom in that imense campus. I ask a few people for directions and get to my clssroom 15 minutes before the time the class starts. I don't mind waiting I just don't like to get late for places even if it is a friends meeting (I don't really have many friends). I was just imagining my first day of classes when a girl probably my age with long dark hair and green eyes tapped me on the shoulder.
-Is something wrong?- I asked.
-No not at all! I was just wondering if your first class is Economics?- she asked wiyh hope.
-By the way it is!- I said. Why did she want to know that?
- Good!!- she said really excited- Finally I meet someone in this class!
I didn't really know what to say 'cause meeting people was not that exciting to me so I just introduced myself.
-I'm Maggie but you can call me Mags.- I said showing my hand for an handshake.
- I'm Jo.- Instead of giving me an handshake she pulled my harm and gave me an really suffocating hug.
At first I didn't know where to put my hands but soon embraced her too. I think that if the professor hadn't shown up we would continue the hug for all day. We entered the classroom and I walked to the front seat. I always like to be on the front, it's easier to distract myself for the other students who like to play around in classes. The professor was in his early twenties and he was beuatiful. What?? I didn't just say that... But I have to admit he's gorgeous with his sparkly green eyes and soft curls that you just want to touch them. I shouldn't be thinking about my professor's atrbutes, it's wrong. I didn't think that such a young professor could teach in such a great college as this is. Could he really teach us?
(Thank you so much for reading my story, it means a lot to me. Love you all!! xoxo)
