"You look exhausted."
I rub at my drooping eyes for the umpteenth time. "That's because I didn't sleep much last night."
"Why is that? Don't tell me you got into a fight with James."
"No, no, no." I look at Kim, whose eyes are thank god transfixed on the road. She must have learned a lesson from the cat incident yesterday. Keep eyes at all time while driving in front of you, watching the road. "We're tighter than ever. Just you know when your mind won't shut down for the night; well that was last night for me."
"Oh." She removes one hand from the steering wheel to tuck her hair behind her ear. "What was on your mind? That it kept you up all night."
"Most of the night. And well." I pause, biting the inside of my cheek. I can't tell her the truth, she'll think I'm crazy and lock me up in the insane asylum, which I really would love to avoid for now. "I, I..."
"Whatever, it's your thoughts don't tell me."
I release a breath, relieved. "Thanks."
We reach the school's parking lot and come aside Amy's big, yellow pickup truck.
I notice the flash of color ducking through the back door of the building. Amy!
I tell myself that the only explanation for us to miraculously park right next to Amy's car is because I'm supposed to help her somehow. But how? That I'm just going to have to find out for myself.
"I'll see you later," I tell Kim, jumping out of the car, and running after Amy.
...
I've never entered the building through the back door before. I find myself in the football team's locker room. Thank god no guys seem to be around.
Searching for Amy is not as easy as I thought it would be. That girl moves fast, she's nowhere to be found.
Sighing, I head to class. Finding Amy and rescuing her from whatever it is, is going to have to wait for now.
