Hair dripping wet, I pad across the plush, carpeted floor to the window, to see if I can spot James sneaking out his house. Instead, I see two glowing green eyes. Oh no the black cat is back. Why do cats get nine lives? So they can drive us, humans, crazy.

Resting my head against the cool glass, I say, "Why are you stupid feline haunting me? Shoo kitty-kitty, SHOO!"

The freakin creature just stares at me with those creepy eyes. So I stare back.

This lovely staring competition goes on for about five minutes until we're interrupted.

"Hey babe, whatcha doing?"

I jump startled, knocking my nose into the glass. Darn, that hurt. Eyes tearing, I turn around to face James.

"Oh, um hi there," I rub at my throbbing nose.

He smirks. "What were you looking out your window for?"

I glance over my shoulder, the cat gone. "You, of course."

He smiles, taking me into his arms and kissing my aching nose. "Sorry for scaring you."

"It's okay," I whisper, burying my face into his tee, the sweet smell of his body soap feeling up my nostrils.

"Everything alright?"

Honestly? No. There's this creepy black cat following me and well I just so happen to have developed a superpower, where I can control and change people's minds.

All I say is, "Yeah, just tired."

"Hmmm, then let's get you off to bed."

No, no, no. I want to cuddle on the sofa downstairs in front of our huge, flat screen, and watch a romantic comedy, James least favorite genre.

"Actually who needs to sleep? We should watch the romantic comedy of your choice."

I smile, giving him a peck on the cheek. "You're the best boyfriend any girl can ask for, you know that right?"

He smirks. "I know. Now come on the movie is calling us."

I laugh, following him out of the room, all my worries of the stalkerish cat that was boggling my mind gone.

...

And now all those worries are back, all because the guy in the movie had to have a black cat. What a coincidence?

This cat is driving me insane. Bonkers. Loco.

I snuggle closer to James, resting my head against his chest, the rhythm of his heart beats, soothing me.

"I hate cats and superpowers," I mumble.

"Hmmm, what'd you say?"

"Nothing," I sigh.

The rest of the movie, I clear my mind from all thoughts of cats and powers, so I can enjoy myself.

Once the movie's credits begin, James, picks me up like a rag doll, and carries me to my room. He then tucks me in my bed and plants a long, passionate kiss on my lips.

"Go to sleep, my beautiful Lisa Brown."

I smile. "You too."

Then he's leaving my room.

Wait I want to call out, stay, but I don't, for if my mom finds out he stayed the night I'm dead.

He glances back at me, his mouth open to say something.

No, don't stay. Go home to bed.

He clamps his mouth shut and smiles, before strolling out of my room, leaving me all alone.
