Chapter 11: The Betrayal

"I'll always protect you! I promise!"

Meredy's P.O.V

"I bet if I told her I loved her, she'd be like, me too! Haha!" Nicholas snarled at his friends.

"Girls like that are idiots!" One of his boys said, laughing.

"Girls like that are so fucking dumb!" Two of his boys barked, slamming their fists on the bench.

"Serves that stupid bitch right!" Nicholas hissed, while all of his boys are laughing.

No way... Nicholas wouldn't... Say that...

Without realizing, I ran to my classroom and locked the door. Good thing it was after school, so I wouldn't get in trouble or anything.

But...

It wouldn't change the fact that Nicholas was actually trash-talking about me...

Why am I so gullible...

I bursted into wild tears, not caring the fact anyone would see me crying and refer me as "a stupid bitch".

How can I be so stupid?!

I closed my eyes and held my breath for so long that I ended up falling asleep on the floor.

"So now you know the truth. Good," A familiar voice said quietly.

I immediately opened my eyes and stood up, only to realize I was in the white room again. Oh... It's Princess- I mean Queen Meredy again...

"Do you really think you can't fight back just because you found out the truth?" She hissed at me.

"F-fight back?!" I shrieked. "How can I possibly fight back against the person who, by the way was my friend for 10 years?!"

"And you still think about those moments, Meredy?!" She shouted. "Face the truth already! The "me" I know would embrace the truth and fight back! Why wouldn't you do the same?!"

"Because even if he thinks I'm trash to him, I still love him!" I yelled, tears streaming on my red cheeks. "How can I possibly hate him...?!"

"Come on, Meredy!" She screamed. "You're way better than this!"

"NO I AM NOT!" I shrieked, collapsing on the floor. "I'm not, alright...? I'm stupid... I'm too gullible... I'm way too weak... I'm too... Too...

...forgiving..."

We were both dead silent after that.

"And even though you know that Nicholas was the one bullying you 10 years ago, not Airis," she paused to see if I was still listening.

"You still love him?"

"That's how pathetic I am really," I sighed, my voice cracking. "But, to be honest, I don't even know if I still like him..."

Then, I heard a guitar and saw Queen Meredy play it. She sat beside me, opened her mouth and began to sing...

"Rescuing the light left alone, reaching out the pain within your heart.
We'll find out the truth, standing side by side, and we'll be finally ready to fight!"

Queen Meredy smiled at me sadly. "You still have a chance, alright?" She said softly.

Then I decided to sing my part...

"Once again, everything in life is a blur,
Even the meaning of love and hate.
Please remind me who's the hero!
And who really is the villain...
Everything today seemed really normal,
In a way I don't get it.
Why does this feel like a twisted dream?
With the hero and villain unknown?
