The Peculiars: Chapter One

Madrine's POV

"Mom! I'm Home!" I entered the house as slowly as I can, Its hard for me to control my speed because sometimes I get excited and run in a Peculiar speed. Going to the kitchen I already saw my mother cooking and the kitchen has this tasty aroma, looking at the table I saw a Letter from somebody called 'Ms. Smith' and to my curiosity I opened it slowly breaking the stamp I heard my mother talked.

"Honey drop that letter we'll discuss that later after dinner, go to your room first pack all your things and then go down." As my mother said that I was shocked.. a sudden vacation maybe? but why? Going upstairs I skipped a couple of step in the stair and I immediately packed my things. Thinking about the letter who is Ms. Smith? are we going somewhere? Am I in trouble, hope not.

Sitting with my Mom and eating dinner I'm feeling a great tension between us. I kept on looking at the letter at the right side of the table. "Mom who's Ms. Smith?" Mom looked up and begun to talk.

"We're moving out, you'll be enrolled on a new school and you'll be living without me because Its a school with a dormitory so try to be independent. Im trusting you on this one." am I hearing things or my mom just said that, "Where? what school? are you sure mom? how about you where would you stay?" I finished eating because I've lost my appetite. Looking at my Mom I can see sadness I'm feeling a lil' bit scared of this situation.

"We're moving to the Philippines and we'll be staying at a place called Ligao in Albay, Bicol. You'll do great I promise, I need your cooperation in this don't worry you're not in trouble we just need to go away from here before they find you and you need to be trained up. Can I trust you with this?" Mom stood up leaving me with an open mouth. Philippines? Im truly scared, I thought we're moving in a new place here in London but we'll be moving to a new country. "Honey we'll be leaving tomorrow morning go and read the letter before you sleep, our flight is at 4am so get up early okay? You'll be great Honey, trust me. I love you!" Mom yelled from her room.

Going to my room with the letter in my hand slowly as I can, I ripped the stamp and took out the piece of paper.

Dear Mrs. Malancine Grouthnines,

How are you? Im currently living here in the Philippines and I want to inform you that Madrine is in great peril, they're already near you and I dont want my niece to end up like her father I want her to be trained and you know its for the best. I ask the cooperation and trust from the both of you, I want you and Madrine to be safe and Madrine to be ready, The augury is right a war may happen and I dont want you dead. I already bought you plane tickets and your flight is in April 6, 2022. Goodluck on your travel, I'll help you explain to Madrine everything.

Ms. Smith

Who are you Ms. Smith my mom didn't told me I had an aunt. Drowned with my thoughts I heard a knock on my door. "Come in" looking up I saw no one but the door opened by itself, for a lil' bit I was scared but after a second I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around I saw my Mom standing beside me. I was shocked, how the hell did my mom got beside me? I didn't saw her..

"Honey, don't be afraid I know that its the first time you saw me doing that but I also know that you are using your Peculiar powers too.. Aren't you wondering on how can you run so fast? Its because you are a Peculiar, Im a Peculiar and thats why you can do things mundanes can't do. Mundanes are the normal people and you're different, You can run so fast because you're special and we Peculiars go on training to enhance the power you have and me, myself gone to train and it was fun but then we are trained for something and that something is the war between Augury and Valiant. We fought and we won so the Augury stayed quiet for decades and then know its your turn to fight for the Valiant because the Augury are again starting a war and Ms. Smith your aunt is the Supreme in Augury. Now we'll move to the Philippines because the Valiant is currently based there as you can see the Augury is chasing us because I'm the Apprentice of the late Supreme and i should be the one to replace Him but I can't because I already have you so we decided that your Aunt Lassy will be the Supreme. I'll be living with your aunt and you'll be living with the other Peculiars. We'll be Safe I love you Honey." Mom left.

That's why I can run fast, Augury? there are others like me and mom. But the thing about Moms Power is wicked! Awesome! Its a little bit scary but for my mom I'll accept it. It's still confusing but I know every piece of the puzzle will put to place.

4am Flight. Philippines here we come.
