A month after “the incident”, none of the Nordics had seen ____. It was like she had disappeared into thin air. Both Norway and Iceland were very concerned. Neither of them had gotten any sleep since _____ left. The two brothers had dark rings under their eyes, and could barely be motivated enough to make themselves eat.
The others Nordics were becoming very worried about Norway and Iceland's condition. Finland had tried comforting them with sweets and hot chocolate, but it didn't work. Denmark even offered to let Norway strangle him without annoying him first. Norway just stared at Denmark with an empty look in his eyes. They were so dull now, the magic that once was held in them now gone.
Iceland looked the same, if not worse. His once vibrant violet eyes were now clouded with the darkness of pain. Surprisingly, neither of the brothers had shed a single tear. It was almost as if there were an unspoken competition between them of who would spill their emotions first. Finally, Iceland just couldn't take the sadness anymore. He loved _____ with all his heart. Iceland was sure that he was perfect for _____.
Iceland wasn't really sure where to go, so he decided to go the mall's candy store and buy some of his favorite licorice. He thought that maybe that sweet taste would help him forget about his sorrows. Iceland walked into the store, pulled a box of licorice off the shelf, and paid for it at the register. Then he sat down on a bench to enjoy his treat. But as soon as he took the first bite, the sweet flavor filled his mouth. But with the taste came memories.
~~~flashback~~~
It was back in October. The leaves had fallen, and kids were going from door to door, trying to get free candy out of people. Some people (including the author) were attempting to summon demons.
Meanwhile, America was having his annual costume party. _____ was dressed as a cat, Norway was dressed as a troll, and Iceland was dressed like a mouse.
"Hey Ice, you better watch out! I'm gonna eat you up!~" _____ giggled. Iceland's face flushed red.
"Um...okay," he replied nervously. Then Iceland remembered the licorice in his pocket that he bought for _____. "Hey _____, want to try some of..." he whipped out the package of licorice. "This?" Iceland waved the package in _____'s face while he watched her begin to drool. When she realized that she was doing this, she began to blush. "She's just so cute", thought Iceland, the blush still on his face.
"Gimme some! Pwease?" _____ made an adorable kitty face. Iceland let a rare smile escape, one of true happiness.
"Sure," he replied. Then he watched as _____ ate the licorice in a very adorable way.
~~~end of flashback~~~
Iceland shook his head to clear the memories that clouded his mind with longing. But then he saw a (h/c) head coming his way through a crowd of people. "_____?" he thought. "No, that can't be her. Or is it? Even if it were _____, she would probably still be mad and wouldn't talk to me anyways. Or would she?" Then he heard a familiar voice.
"Iceland?"
Before _____ could even grasp what was happening, Iceland leaped off of the bench and pulled her into a hug.
"Oh God, I missed you so much." He breathed into her shoulder. Iceland pulled away. _____ looked extremely upset. But something was really off. _____ took a deep breath.
"Iceland, you're my best friend, right?" she asked.
"Of course, why?" Iceland stated, unsure of what _____ was getting at.
"Friends help each other, right?" she questioned tentatively.
"Yes," he breathed.
"I need you to tell someone something." Immediately Iceland knew what _____ was going to say. He shut down, the words still ringing in his ears. His worst fear was now becoming his life. Iceland felt something snap inside his chest. The tears rolled down his face as he fell to his knees. He covered his ears to prevent the words from doing any more damage. The pain racked his mind in sickening waves as he sobbed shamelessly. _____ just looked down at Iceland in pure despair as people began to stare at the odd scene.
~~~the next day~~~
Iceland was sitting on the couch in the Nordics' living room. Norway walked in and sat down next to him.
"Hey Norge, you know how we haven't seen _____ in a while?"
"Yes." Norway replied in his emotionless voice.
"You think you lost your love?" Norway's face darkened as Iceland said this. Then he nodded.
"Well, I saw her yesterday." Norway just looked at him.
"Are you serious?", he asked incredulously.
"Yes. It's you she's thinking of right now." Iceland's face fell as he said this. He just couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth right now. Norway motioned for him to continue. "And, she told me what to say."
"She says she loves you, and you know that can't be bad. She freakin' loves you, Norway! And you should be glad." Iceland began to cry, while Norway began to grin out of pure happiness. He had always loved _____, and he was happy to hear that she felt the same way about him.
"Did she say anything else?" Iceland looked up.
"Yeah, actually she did." he sniffled.
"Well, what did she say?" Norway asked impatiently.
"She said you were to know that she almost lost her mind. But now she says she knows that you're not the hurting kind." Norway knew that he shouldn't have slapped her. He was just so frustrated at his brother, and he took it out on _____. She was right to be mad at him.
Suddenly, Norway heard someone knocking on the door. He went to go answer it.
"Hel-mmmph!" He was cut off by _____'s lips.
"I missed you," _____ whispered. Then Norway kissed her again. His lips were so soft, and so good at what they were doing. He relished this moment.
Unfortunately, poor Iceland was watching. He was seething with fury and anger. But most of all, he was saddened by this.
"With a love like that, you know you should be glad."
