Short-Stack

If there was one thing that would send Shadow nuts, it was the fact people loved to rub in the fact he was short, granted, he may had been taller the Amy, Sticks, and Tails, but that still didn't mean he didn't feel any less shorter, he was a foot shorter then the average fifteen year old, Sonic being at that height, and absolutely hated it, but hey, at least he was now taller then Dave, right? It was a sunny day, Amy, Sticks, Tails, and Shadow were in Tails' workshop, just making random stuff, sticks seemed to be making a tinfoil hat, but claimed it to be an 'Anti government mind controller' They weren't sure, Tails was trying to make another upgrade to his plane, Amy seemed to be making some sort of photo frame, and Shadow seemed to be trying to make some sort of gun, when it came to gun craftsman ship, Shadow was an expert at it, so him and Tails would be seen making laser guns, blasters, etc. "Almost.....There!" He looked towards where Amy was, but she was gone, and then looked towards the shelf, she seemed to be trying to reach a box, yet it was to high up, he walked over to the pink hedgehog.

"Um, Amy? are you alright?" She sighed in defeat. "No, not really, I'm trying to reach this box that has the finishing touch to my picture frame, but I can't reach it." "Want me to get it?" Amy's eyes lit up and smiled. "Really? You'd do that for me?" "Yeah, sure, it's no problem really." "Thanks Shadow!" Shadow looked up to where the box was, it was on the top shelf. 'Of course, it just had to be on the top shelf, didn't it?' He sighed and jumped up, reaching his arms up to the box, but he wasn't even close, only managing to jump high enough to reach the second last shelf, he kept on trying and soon Amy started to notice his slight difficulty. "Um, Shadow? do you want me to go get Sonic or Knuckles?" "No, I got this." He said, determination in his voice, there was no way he was asking for help with a task that was so easy to do, after about ten more tries, Shadow was out of breath, by now Sticks and Tails had caught on to what was going on, and were watching slightly amusement as Shadow tried to reach the box, he sighed and thought for a moment, and snapped his fingers, running over to some boxes and pushing them to the shelves, planning on using them as a stool, after stacking the boxes high enough, he placed one chair on each side of the boxes, making sure it was stable, and began to climb up, now they were starting to get slightly concerned, well, except Sticks, she thought that Shadow was a genius! not relying on the government for help, this man was brilliant! Tails was the most worried, he knew that if Shadow got hurt badly, Sonic would not be happy. "Be careful Shadow! If you fall, you could break your back!" "I got, I got it." Shadow finally made it to the top, grabbed the box, and smirked in victory. "Yes! Victory is mi-!" "Hey guys!"

And as if on cue, Knuckles and Sonic ran in, Knuckles accidentally running into the boxes and causing the boxes to shake, Shadow struggled to keep his balance, but sadly, he still fell off. "Mistakes were made!" He rushed before he began to fall, closing his eyes and waiting for the impact of the hard ground below, but nothing came, he only felt two sets of arms around him, he cracked an eye open, only to see a familiar pair of emerald green eyes, he then opened both of his eyes fully, and his thoughts stood right, it was Sonic, who was smirking down at him. "Got ya sweetheart." Shadow let a groan escape his lips but couldn't help but smile. "Thank you once again Sonic, you've saved the day." "When don't I?" Sonic had let Shadow back on his feet, who still had the box in his hands and looked back towards where Amy was, who was trying to contain her fangirling screams, he walked over to her and handed her the box. "Here's the box." "Oh, right! Thanks Shadow!" She quickly grabbed the box and opened it, and pulled out a camera. "A camera? I spent an entire hour and nearly broke my back trying to get a camera? Are you kidding me?" "Well, I wanted to get a group photo, since you've joined us, I thought I'd make some new memories." She pulled out the photo frame she was working on, it was pink with blue, red, yellow, brown, and black hearts around it, with the words at the bottom saying 'Happy Family!'

"Wow, that's really good." Sonic said, quite amazed with how much detail was put into it. "Thank you Sonic! Now, everyone outside! I wanna get a photo while the suns still out!"

~Outside~

"Alright, everyone ready?" Amy asked, everyone was standing side by side, Sticks on the left, Tails on the right, Knuckles in the back, and Sonic and Shadow in the middle, each of them smiling, they all nodded. "Alright! Get ready in three......" She ran to the group, the timer ticking down. "Two......" Sonic came up with an idea and smirked, wrapping an arm around Shadows waist, yet surprisingly Shadow didn't even notice. "One......" Shadow started to feel a hand go up his side, and looked towards Sonic, who was smirking down at him, with a mischievous and evil glint in his eyes. 'He better not be thinking of doing something stupi-' "Smile!!" And on cue, Sonic crashed his lips on Shadows, wrapping his arms around the smaller boys waist, who's eyes widened, but for some reason, he closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around the blue hedgehogs neck, and a small *CLICK!* was heard, the couple pulled away, Sonic smirking and Shadow a flustered mess, realisation hit him, and he emmiediatly ran to the camera, but Sonic managed to grab it before he did, holding it in the air as Shadow tried to reach out for it. "Give me the damn camera Sonic!" "Ain't gonna happen sweetheart, Knuckles! Amy! Think fast!" Sonic threw the camera towards Knuckles, who easily caught it and took off, Amy not to far behind, Shadow was about to run after the echidna and pink hedgehog, when he was suddenly lifted into the air from behind.

"Sonic! Put me down!" "Nope!" The more Shadow struggled, the more Sonic's grip began to tighten, after a minute or two, Shadow sighed and went limp, giving up. "You give up?" "Yes." "Good." Shadow was finally put down on the ground, Sonic stepping back in case Shadow wanted to give him a piece of his mind, but Shadow only gave Sonic a blank stare. "I get that I may be violent at times, but it's not necessary to act as if I'll kill you, besides...." Shadow took a few step towards the blue hedgehog, who stayed in place, and his face went up in flames when Shadow lightly scratched behind his ears, a small smile on his lips. "You're too cute to be mad at." And then walked off, smirking and looking back at the Sonics flustered face 'Oh Sonic, you're to easy to embarrass.' Meanwhile Sonic was still trying to comprehend everything. "I swear, that short-stack gonna be the death of me...." He looked back up, and saw Shadow glaring at Amy and Knuckles, who had came back for some reason, they both just seemed to laugh, and Sonic quietly laughed to himself.

"But he's my short-stack, and I wouldn't want that any other way..."
