Twenty minutes later, when Lilyanne's hand was cramped and her fingers were sore from pressing the pen to paper, she put her notebook away, closed her eyes and took one last deep breath of the fresh air.
Letting out an audible sigh, Lilyanne climbed to her feet, grabbing her backpack off the ground. Turning back towards where her car was parked, she noticed a familiar figure writing on the hill next to hers.
Lilyanne laughed as a brilliant idea flashed into her mind. She whipped out her phone and snapped a few pictures of her new Dutch friend with the glacier and lagoon in the background.
She wandered over to where he was sitting. He glanced over his shoulder as she approached. "Will you let me return the favor?"
He smiled broadly at her and nodded, setting down his pen and paper. Lilyanne plopped down beside him and handed her phone over to let him do his tech magic.
"What are you writing?" she asked him.
He grinned at her, "postcards to my friends from around the world. Even though it's a little old fashioned, I think it's a day brightener to get something in the post."
"I think that's great. Your friends will love it." Lilyanne smiled at him.
He grabbed one of the cards from the pile and handed it to her, "here, fill this out. I'll send you one, too, my new friend."
"Are you sure?" Lilyanne was flattered, grabbing the card from his hand.
"Of course, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't send you a postcard of my travels?" he joked with her.
"I see your point." she responded, rolling her eyes. She quickly wrote her address in L.A. and returned the pen and card to him.
"Lilyanne. I like that name." he commented.
"Oh, I guess we never exchanged names. What's yours?"
"Sem." He pulled out a card with nothing but his initials S.V.B. and his phone his phone number on it and handed it to her.
"Ooohh, very mysterious. And Sem, where are you from?"
"If I told you that, I'd have to kill you."
Lilyanne smirked at him. "Okay, have your mystery. It was good to meet you. Thank you again for the pictures."
"My pleasure." He said, grabbing her hand and playfully putting it to his mouth.
In spite of herself, Lilyanne giggled as he released her hand back to her. Before she could embarrass herself more, she bid him goodbye and walked down the hill and back to her car.
