The next afternoon, Ty was preoccupied making some phone calls, whilst I sat on the sofa just staring at my surroundings.
It was then that something occurred to me. Ty was able to make and receive phone calls here, in the middle of nowhere.
What hadn't I thought of that before?! This whole time I could've tried to use it. Although it was locked away most of the time. I looked anxiously at the phone. I hadn't been paying enough attention to when he was using it. I'd been so lost in my own thoughts.
Ty looked over at me, and put the phone down on the worktop. He then stared out the window like he was thinking about something important. My heart skipped a beat and felt like it had stopped.
How would I do this? Could I really go against Tyler?
At that moment, Ty went to the front door, and opened it and stepped outside. His phone was still on the worktop.
"Just getting something out of the car." He shouted. The car was right near the door, so he could keep watch easily. But he seemed like he trusted me more now.
This was my moment, I had to do it. I had little time, but at least if I failed doing this, I'd know that I tried to fight, and escape. My breathing quickly sped up, I leapt up, and ran to the phone. I dialed the number, and immediately heard a voice.
"911, whats your emergency?"
"I need help...I've been taken, please! Please help me!" I panicked not knowing what to say.
"Hello?.. Hello?" The line was breaking up. I turned around, and Tyler was in front of me, face in horror. I jumped back.
"Give me the phone NOW!" his eyes widened. I tried backing away slowly with the phone.
"GIVE IT TO ME!" He shouted furiously. Leaping forward, he tried to grab it off of me, and pushed me against the wall. The phone slid out my hand, and I lurched towards the floor, to try and get it. On all fours, hands grabbed at me, and lifted me off the ground. I struggled, and kicked in every direction. As he tried to grab the phone, his hand hit me in the face. My eyes tried to refocus. After getting the phone, he dropped me onto the floor. I stayed there still and numb, as he stood over me.
"You've ruined everything!" he shouted.
"They didn't...they didn't even hear me, the line was breaking up, they don't know where I am." I stuttered trying to defend myself.
"They can trace calls, if they find us..." He trailed off. As he drifted into panic, I noticed a light from beneath his legs.
The door was still open!
I sniffled and whimpered to try and distract him. I sat up quickly, and kicked my leg pushing him, hoping to throw him off balance. He flinched hard and staggered backwards.
I lurched forward still crawling trying to find my feet and get up. My hands reached out to the door, but my legs were being pulled back. His hand was gripped around my ankle. At the corner of my eye, next to me was an empty metal umbrella bucket. It looked strong enough, so I grabbed it and swung it behind me, hoping it would hit him. It did!
It caught the side of his face, and he let go immediately. I took my chance, I jumped up, and sprinted forwards.
I ran as fast as I could. I had no time to spare. I ran and ran straight into masses of trees. Everything darkened, the deeper I got. I brushed past each tree scraping on their trunks. I couldn't look back, even if he was right behind me. I had no time to waste if I wanted to lose him. I just hoped he wouldn't catch up to me. Although I didn't want him to get in trouble or get hurt, I just couldn't be the victim anymore, not knowing what was awaiting me. I kept going, my arms flung out to push past the branches. My feet were aching, and my heart was racing, but I kept going and going. Until finally I started to slow a little, as my body weakened.
