"Holy shit, check this place out." I made a slow circle, my arms spread out like wings. "It's a freaking mansion!"
River grinned. "I told you you'd love it."
Kate ran her fingers over the bar then rubbed them together. "No dust."
"Is there supposed to be?" I made a running leap into the indoor pool, surfacing moments later.
River sighed. "You're fine, Kate."
Kate took one more look at the gleaming bar and then ducked behind it. "Where's the wine?"
"Are you even old enough to drink?" I joked, taking a playful jab at Kate's youthfulness.
Her voice was muffled by the bar. "17 is plenty old to be drinking."
River checked her watch. "But at 3:00 in the afternoon?"
I rolled onto the floor and gestured for the weighted Kate to bring me a glass. "Somehow we have to put up with you."
"Hardy har," River replied, rolling her eyes. "I call first dibs on beds!"
"No fair!" I yelped, tearing after her, sloshing water and wine all over the floor.
River stopped at the first doorway, her arms braced on the wood trim. "This one is mine."
"It matches your personality," I quipped. "Don't you see how the burgundy walls appear bloody when the black curtains are pulled?"
"If you're trying to say something, then just say it."
I bit down a smile. "Alright, you're a sadist."
River pinched my butt, "Does that make you the masochist?"
Kate tugged on my arm. "You guys can finish your foreplay later. I'd like Raelyn to pick a room first."
Allowed Kate to drag me to the second room pausing in the doorway just as she moved on. "This one's good for me."
"I thought you'd like it," Kate nodded, still walking.
I set my glass down on the white dresser and lept onto the 4-poster bed. "Very soothing," River agreed, striding into the room. "Although I'd say it's in opposition to your personality. To bright, too green."
"Thanks, love. Why don't you check on Kate. She seemed lost a minute ago."
"I'm good!" Kate called from somewhere deeper in the house. "This room has got bookshelves!"
I barked out a laugh and threw an arm over my eyes, it was still damp from my spontaneous dive.
River crawled up beside me. "Want to go swimming?"
Without turning to look at her, I felt a smile crawl across my face. "When don't I?"
