“Hey look! It’s the ditchers!” Madison waves over Isabelle and Mikey.
“Oh! Was that tonight? I totally forgot!” Mikey joked - making Isabelle laugh, and Milena chuckle a little too. “Sorry man,” Mikey patted Madison on the shoulder, “I’m sure you guys were just fine without us.”
Milena looked down to the floor. Isabelle knew what Milena was feeling about Madison.
In the silence, both of the boys’ phones buzzed and beeped. They checked them.
“Party at Elias’?” Mikey says out loud to Madison. The guys lock eyes, knowing that these kinds of parties are the times you can’t miss.
“You girls want to come?” Madison asked. Both the girls got really excited. “Sure!” Both the girls said in sync.
“Great! I’ll text Elias back.” Mikey said exchanging looks with Madison, then Isabelle. She felt the sparks between them, but quickly looked away.
Milena could feel Madison’s leg and shoulder next to her. Lightly brushing past her each time he moved even the slightest bit. It sent shivers down her spine. Earlier that night they were laying next to each other, looking into the endless dark sky. She didn’t want it to end, but Madison had to call Mikey for something.
--
As Madison pulled up to the big party house with his old car, they all could already see the craziness inside. The girls haven’t been to a party yet, but since it’s summer break, and none of their friends from back home were here to judge them, they decided to go.
“Oh goodness.” Isabelle said under her breath.
“I know… We just gotta… Live a little tonight I guess.” Milena shrugged. They were both a little worried. Isabelle turned around to Milena while they were walking toward the house. “Do you think you’re gonna…” She looked to the boys while they had their own conversation, hoping they couldn’t hear, “Drink?” She said a little quieter.
Milena and Isabelle weren’t ones to party, or drink, or smoke, or do anything really. Sadly, they could be called goody two shoes, but people haven’t recognized them as that yet.
“No, I don’t plan on it.” Milena answered back. Isabelle nodded her head in agreement.
When they walked into the house, Mikey and Madison held the girls hands. Making sure they’d fit in without feeling like they were intruding.
The house was filled with high school kids. The girls didn’t recognize any of them. Couples were making out on the sides, solo cups were filled around the house, and music was blaring. A group of guys greeted Mikey and Madison once they walked through the doors. None of them noticed the girls until they introduced them.
“Come on. Let’s go to the kitchen.” Mikey whispered, bent down to Isabelle’s ear. She could almost feel his lips touch her ear, and the warmth of his breath fizzed her up inside. “Snacks.” He clears up. Him and Isabelle left to go to the back of the house while Madison introduced Milena to the rest of his friends.
Following Milena:
Madison probably talked to almost everyone at the party, barely paying any attention to Milena. She just stood behind him like his bitch.
Milena looked around at everyone having a blast. "Screw this." Milena walked up to a guy serving some beer. "Can I have a cup." The guy looked at her like she was a little girl.
"Sure." He gave her a cup.
Milena chugged the whole thing.
"Can I have some more?" She held out the cup. The guy looked at her like she just killed someone.
