My alarm went off on queue, forcing me to get up and turn it off. I slumped out of bed, my feet sinking into the off-white carpet underneath me. I opened my closet to reveal probably one of the plainest closets ever. My style consisted of mainly black and white, with the occasional red flannel. I sighed and tried to find something suitable to wear. It was at this moment I realised I owned nothing but casual clothes. I pulled out a black skater skirt and black crop top. Very typical, I know. I slipped on my maroon Doc Martens, threw my hair into a ponytail and added a deep red lipstick onto my lips. I snapped a quick selfie and added it onto my Instagram before exiting my dorm and making my way to the party.
I stood awkwardly in the corner, red cup in my hand, trying to spot anyone I knew. I could see the curtains to the VIP area on the other side of the pool. Sitting just out side of the VIP (i.e the 'I'm too snobby to interact with you peasants') area, I could just make out Justin's shabby face. I finished my drink, trying not to throw it straight back up. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was fucking strong.
I made my way through the crowd to Justin. I pushed through all the drunk dancers and dodged the tipsy girls tripping over their own feet.
"Whats Blackwell's poster child doing at a party like this?" He patted the empty seat next to him, ushering me to sit down.
"Hey, even I like to have some fun" I sat down and took the joint out of his hand, I breathed in the smoke before handing it back to him. He chuckled and shook his head.
"You know, for such a perfect student, you sure do drink and smoke a lot" I shrugged my shoulders before trying to tune into the conversations around me. The bass from the music vibrated through me, it felt as if it was rattling my brain. I stood up to walk off but was stopped by Justin.
"Ava! Where are you off to?"
"I'm getting another drink. Want one?"
"No thanks" He said raising his half full beer in his hand. I turned around and made my way to the makeshift bar that was at the front.I grabbed my drink from the bar and turned around into the crowd behind me. In the distance I could spot Kate, Alyssa and Stella sharing a lounge. I pushed my way through to them.
"Hey girls!" I exclaimed as I sat down on the arm rest. I looked down at Kate, she seemed really uncomfortable. Poor thing, they probably dragged her here. She looked up at me, grasping her cup in her hand.
"Hey Ava" She smiled weakly.
"Hey Kate. Everything alright?" I asked. Stella sighed.
"She wants to leave already, but we haven't even been here for that long" I saw Kate lower her head. I felt so sorry for her. She really didn't want to be here.
"The least you guys could do is just walk her back to her dorm. The party is still gonna be here when you come back" Alyssa looked over to Stella.
"Shes right. Come on Kate. We'll take you back to your dorm" They all got up off the lounge in sync. Kate handed her cup to me."Do you want it?" She asked me. "Nathan gave it to me before, but I don't really want it" I looked to my left to see Nathan Prescott looking over at us as he leaned against a table. He turned away the second we made eye contact. I took the cup off her and walked with them to the exit.
I waved them off before entering back into the building. I chugged the red wine Kate gave me. I shivered as it went down. That was fucking disgusting.
I don't know what happened, but next thing I knew, everything was getting blurry and I could barely put one foot in front of the other. I've been drunk before, yet its never felt like this. I was stumbling all over the place. The music was almost unbearable at this point, it felt like my brain was being thrown around inside my head. I was trying to find my way out of this place, but in my clumsy state walked hard into a wall. I fell backwards and caught myself before I fell over. I blinked a few times to try and focus on what was in front of me. Turns out it wasn't a wall, it was some guy. He looked down at me, smirking.
"Watch where you're going babe"
"My bad dude" My words slurred, almost impossible to understand. I turned to walk away. He grabbed my hand and pulled me back towards him, pulling me so hard I almost fell back into him.
"Hey where are you going in such a hurry, darling." His breath smelt strongly of beer. My eyes widened in fear. This was all too similar to another event. I tried in a desperate attempt to get him to let go of my arm. I pushed back with all the force I had in my 5'4 body. He let go of my arm, flinging me backwards. I braced myself for impact as I lost my balance. I never hit the ground. Someone had grabbed me from under my arms before I had reached the ground. I couldn't tell who it was, but I could hear arguing between them and the guy in front of me. I started getting panicked as they grabbed me and lead me outside. My vision was getting blurrier, but I could just make out the stares from the people around us as they made for us. The music was faint in the background as all I could hear was my racing heart. Every thing felt like it was going in slow motion. We made it outside. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I fell to my knees and started crying, my breaths shaky. I looked up to see who it was that brought me out here. I held my breath as i looked up to see Nathan Prescott looking down at me.
"What the fu-" I couldn't even get my words out, it felt like my throat was tightening. I could feel my eyes growing heavy. He put an arm around my shoulder, lifting me up off the ground. We headed in the direction of the girls dormitories. My legs gave in from underneath me. Nathan's angry mumbling was the last thing I heard before I passed out.
