I followed Jade while dodging backpacks and giants that covered the tops of my head. I'm only four feet three inches, so I'm not very tall, well at least compared to these kids. Jade pushed a yellow door open that lead to a different hall with orange floors. I tugged on Jade's shirt, I only came here for three reasons. To see the big kids, see the school, and see there most likely outstanding playground called a courtyard, or at least that's what Dan Dan calls it. Jade went up a flight of rainbow colored stairs. Every time I stepped on a stair piece of a different color it lit up! I hopped up and down stairs, ran up two, down one, up three, down two just to see their lights shimmer!
"You coming?" Jade said as she stood at the top of the stairs watching me look awestruck at the stairs. "Everyone always thinks they're Fab- when they first see them, but when I see them, well I just walk up them!"
"I didn't know anyone actually said Fab- anymore." Dan Dan always made fun of me when I was six and I would say Fab- or Adorbs- or anything like that, he told me it was very embarrassing on my part. I quit saying it, but Jade still says it I guess, I can't see Dan Dan being friends with someone like her!
"This is the math department." Jade said, just then I noticed that the floors were now green. "The language department is right under this floor, and the cafeteria is past the stairs, out a door, and to the left." She looked at me and tried to use her hand as a map, I just blocked her out. All of a sudden I heard off in the distance a voice of heavenly brother. Dan Dan! I ran to the nearest classroom where I swear his voice was coming from. I swung the cracked door open and scrambled into the dark, but window illuminated room.
"Hello there little one. What are you doing here?" I saw an old man sitting at a desk in the back left corner of the room. "I'm Mr. Doffel, can I help you look for anything?"
"Um...... I'm... uh..... Never mind." I said then ran out of the room back into the green hallway. I heard Jade talking to a teacher so I turned and started in the other direction. I didn't make it far when a tall figure stood in my path way holding their arms out. "Dan Dan!" I said wrapping my short arms around his hips.
"Diana what are you doing here?" Dan Dan didn't hug me back or even acknowledge that I was his sister.
"I went with Jade to deliver a present!" Just then Jade walked up behind me and handed me the textbook. I held it up above my head. "Tah-Dah!" I placed the heavy Geometry textbook in his hands.
"Thanks Jade, this one can be quite a hassle sometimes."
"Me! Hassle! You're the hardest person to wake up in the morning, won't fix my calculator, and you chased me around this morning. Also I looked in your sock drawer, and you had stolen one of my white socks!"
"Why were you in my room?"
"I needed a sock, and I knew there would be one in your room." He looked at me with a serious face, it made me chuckle to myself.
"You think that's funny? Listen stay away from my stuff." He shoved me over making me trip over my own shoes and bring me tumbling to the ground, and hitting my head on the green tile. The world around me spun around.
"Daniel! Omg! Little girl.... Diana, I think? Are you okay! Daniel, what if she's hurt!" I stood up and brushed the dirt off my shirt and shorts. My head was pounding now.
"I'm okay, but Dan Dan, you shouldn't do that!" To embarrass him for pushing me over I started to cry. Very loudly. I sat on the tile floor and started to cry and scream.
"Diana! Shhhhh!!! Be quiet, calm down!" Dan Dan was crouched down next to me. Then I saw Mr. Doffel come out into the hallway. He was looking at Dan Dan now.
