Percy’s POV

I was laying in my bunk with Annabeth. She was talking about something and I wanted to pay attention, I truly did, but the words just wouldn’t stick. My mind kept wondering to people, Hazel, Nico…Jason? Hazel and Nico I get, they’re my friends, but Jason? The prick was always trying to out do me. I was pulled out of my thoughts by a sharp slap.

“Jackson pay attention!” Annabeth yelled.

“Sorry.” I muttered, rubbing my cheek.

“What is it with you lately? Your never paying attention. I mean I get it when I start rambling you drift away but you always at LEAST look like your paying attention.” She scolded.

“I just have a lot on my mind.” It wasn’t a complete lie. I just left out some details. Like who it was about. Her face was stone.

“It’s Piper isn’t it?” She asked. Her face was full of anger and jealousy but the jealousy wasn’t for me, it was at me.

“What? No!” I promised. She was standing now.

“How could she?” I heard her whisper.

“How could SHE?!” I yelled.

“I never said that.” She rushed out. I got up too.

“I never said you did.” I pointed out. She swallowed.

“It’s nothing I promise.” She wouldn’t meet my eyes. Just then the Aphrodite cabin door swung open and Jason was pushed out, A vase being thrown at him.

“PIPER IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK!” He yelled.

“MY ASS. OH LOOK THERE COMES YOUR LITTLE BOY TOY NOW!” She yelled as we approached.

“He’s not my boy toy.” He muttered as the door was slammed.

“Hey man what happened?” I asked.

“I should be asking you the same thing.” I he retorted as I heard the door of the Athena cabin slam and crash followed by footsteps running out. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose.

“Girlfriend troubles for the both of us huh?” I said.

“Yeah…Wanna go train? It sometimes helps get my mind off things.” Jason said.

“Sure.” I smiled. Wait why was I smiling? Why was he smiling? Ugh! I thought only girls were this complicated. We were silent as we put on our armor.

“Ready Jackson?” He teased and smirked, but this time it wasn’t annoying it was…cute? What the hell?! I shook my head. Get over it, it just reminds you of Annabeth. He charged, just like him, always going offence not defense. I blocked and dodged rolling to his left. He was always a bit slower on his left because Thalia said he fell of the side of a slide when he was little. The fall broke his ankle. But we had fought before and he knew so he rolled to his right. We were both on our feet now swords pointed at each others chests. We changed at the same time and ended up with our swords crossed both blades at both of our necks. Our faces were inches apart and I could smell his breath. I know your expecting me to say that it smelled like it does before rain, or metallic like lightning, but it just smelled like shit. Mine couldn’t have smelled any better. His eyes were a deep blue and now that I got to see them up close I saw tiny specks of gray around the pupils. His lips were so close…we both leaned in a bit. But finally his lips smashed to mine and we froze. The blades dropped and he grabbed my waist. His lips moved with mine and tiny sparks shot through me where his hands were. The beach waves got bigger and thunder rumbled in the distance. Rain spattered down as he took his lips off of mine and moved to my neck. What I saw made my stomach drop. Leo was sitting on the other side of the rink with a small camera. My cheeks flared up and I pulled away.

“Wha-“ Jason started but then he saw Leo.

“Holy shit.” He whispered. Leo’s face got as white as Nico’s as we chased him.
