Two months later, as I was in the middle of my Creative Writing class, I noticed my notebook wasn't with me. I slightly panicked as I raised my hand. Mrs. Crown looked over the top of her laptop.
"Yes, Miss Moonlight?" I shuddered at my last name.
"May I go to my locker? I'm missing something." She nodded, and I quickly darted out. I grabbed my book, and as I was walking back past the girls' bathroom, I heard a soft sob coming from it. I peered in cautiously, and saw a girl on her knees, obviously crying. She was wearing mostly black, with an occasional white speck, and she had a marble colored jacket tied around her waist with black combat boots. Her hair was jet black with white tips. She had four eyebrow piercings, gauges, and a septum piercing. I stepped silently in.
"Um, are you okay?" She flinched at my voice and turned to me, fear residing everywhere. I held up my hands innocently.
"I'm not here to hurt you!" She breathed in and out.
"W-who are you?" I walked over and held out my hand. She accepted it, hesitantly, and I lifted her off of the ground.
"I'm Kirstin, but you can call me Kirstie." She nodded.
"I'm Esther. It's nice to meet you Kirstie."
"What are you doing here?" She looked down, and I bit my lip.
"O-oh, no, that's f-fine if you don't want to t-talk about it!"
"I'm being bullied." I looked at her sympathetically.
"Me too. What for?" She looked up at me again.
"For being transgender." My eyes widened.
"Really?" She nodded.
"So, you're biologically a guy?" She nodded.
"Okay, thank god, because I always get confused with this." She smiled.
"Hey, how about you sit with me and my friends at lunch? It'll be fun." She looked at me, excitement shining in her eyes.
"Really?!"
"Yeah, of course! But we better get to class." She nodded, and we both ran off. I sat down at the table with Ari and Scott, looking for Esther.
"Hey, guys, do you mind if an extra person sits with us?" Ari nodded.
"No, that's fine." Scott nodded.
"Okay, good." I spotted her roaming the middle of the cafeteria, and I waved her over. She noticed my hand, and quickly walked over to the table. She sat down, fixing her white tipped bangs.
"H-hi there." Ari smiled comfortably.
"You must be Kirstie's new friend, right?" She nodded.
"Yes, I am. My name is Esther."
"Nice to meet you, Esther. I'm Ariana." Scott shoved his coffee cup to the side and smiled at her.
"I'm Scott. It's a pleasure to meet you, Esther. Welcome to our little group." She smiled shyly, but I could tell she was happy.
"Thank you, Ariana, Scott, and Kirstie. It's nice to know that I'm accepted somewhere in this school." Scott nodded.
"We'll accept anyone. We're not afraid to let others into this group." I looked to Esther.
"And the fun part is, we're all misfit LGBT+ members." Esther's eyes widened.
"Really? Me too!" Ari's smile lit up.
