The car is moving at a fairly fast speed, but that's not much of an issue. You've learned that no one really is on this road, except for cops every couple of miles.
You just know to slow down when you see them.
Laurel is staring out the window, watching the (fairly bare) scenery move past. Queen is playing through the radio, and she's softly singing along. You don't know many of the words, but you know some. Laurel somehow knows them all. You choose not to sing along, and instead take a chip out of the large bag that is sitting between the two of you. When you make the bag crinkle, she sits up from her slouching against the door and window. She smiles, a really big smile.
"I'm surprised you're letting me come with you." Her face wasn't as bright and happy anymore - in fact, she looks a bit confused.
"It was lonely, and you seem lively," you explain, her smiling a bit at that comment. "I wanted someone with me again; it's been a while since I've seen..." You pause. "Since I've seen my friends."
"Why'd you leave then?"
You wince.
"That story is for a different time, Laurel," you say, your voice softer than usual. Your voice was already soft, even with the rich accent you had. You were very soft-spoken.
Laurel frowns a bit, but she seems to understand shortly after. She nods.
You take another chip, and Laurel jams out to the chorus of Killer Queen.
Though it was upsetting, why you had to leave...
...at least you found Laurel.
