It's nighttime now.

You guys had been driving for a while. Tord has, actually. You haven't driven at all. You've told him where certain things are, told him about the area - as much as you knew, really. Tord just smiled and listened to you ramble, which was nice.

You haven't had a friend in a while.

You offer to drive, but Tord declines. He looks tired.

"We can pull over, if you want. There aren't many close motels or hotels 'round here right now, but if you're okay with just sleeping in the car, we can do that." Tord is extremely out of it, but he nods. He pulls over to the side of the road (you finally are on an actual road with actual road signs and advertisements for fast food, and it's comforting), and you recline back your seat a bit.

"You can sleep laying down in the back, Laurel. I can sleep in the passenger seat," Tord offers. You shake your head.

"Nah. Nope. You've been driving alone and I don't know when the last time you slept in an actual bed was, so you can sleep in the backseat. Lay down, enjoy the space. I can handle a little upright sleeping." Tord smiles and nods again. He seems to have done that a lot; he is very tired by your knowledge.

So he lays in the back, covered by one of the blankets you brought. He hands you the other one, and hands you a pillow as well.

And you sleep.

Neither of you guys are alone anymore.
