The End

The stars are out tonight. Are you looking at them too? Do you ever think of me? Of what might have been?

Would you have danced with me, even though it's not you're thing? Would you have shared a sunny afternoon with me?

Would you have sat next to me on the couch playing Mario Kart late into the night. Would you have laughed at how I turned my whole body with the controller because "yes it bloody well does help don't patronise me"? Would we have texted blissful nothings for hours on end? Would I have had to step on tiptoes to kiss you? Would we have watched the fireworks together? Would you have been there for me when I cried? Would it all have ended in a blaze of anger and frustration and hurt? Or would it have just slowly faded as we drifted apart like people so often do?

We will never know, and maybe it's for the best.

We all look at old photographs through rose tinted glasses.

We are like dogs, forgetting why we stopped chasing the wasp when the sting on our nose dulls. Again.

I'll keep my stars and fireworks. And I'll take them somewhere new.

Because my constellations simply don't connect with you.
