Chapter 3
A faint breeze, cold against his exposed skin blew off of the Gotham Harbor. For Erick, life was very different on the outside of the prison. He had been taken to Blackgate, assumed to be just some normal criminal. Escaping from there had been no problem for the brilliant boy, who really couldn't be called that. His many scars and wounds showed that he was truly older than his body. Erick Dent was seventeen years old, but many people thought he was much older. No one saw his full face, as he wore a mask on half of it to prevent people from seeing the side of his face that had been ruined by two bullet wounds that had nearly killed him. However, many could see his vibrant blue and green eyes, as well as his sandy blonde hair that looked like they belonged on a movie star rather than a criminal.
Erick was waiting patiently here, tapping his foot as he waited for the girl that he was supposed to meet here. From the darkness a red headed girl stepped out with a slight smile on her face.
"Getting impatient?"
"I'm used to waiting for you Katherine" Katherine Nygma was the Riddler's daughter, and Andrew's little sister. She and Erick had been plotting on how to get their friends out of the prison, but so far they hadn't made any progress besides learning where it was their friends were locked up at.
Katherine walked up next to Erick and leant her head against his shoulder. She wrapped her arms around his waist and sighed.
"So, Mr. Genius, any brilliant ideas on how to get out friends out if jail?" Without returning any of Katherine's affection Erick crossed his arms over his chest and cocked his mouth down into a scowl.
"No, nothing yet. The last round of men that I sent in to scout out the facility were captured. The only thing that I have to work with is that we know where they are, and that they're heavily guarded."
"Do you think they hurt them?" Erick sighed remembering the cruel treatment his father had described during his time in Arkham Asylum. He would rather not worry Kat though, and so he lied.
"No, I'm sure they're perfectly fine, perhaps Azrael would be hurt, but he word have that coming to him."
"I hope they let Edgar and Andrew talk at least" Erick had to stop himself from becoming frustrated due to Kat's worrying. He understood what she meant, if the authorities had separated them Erick would be devastated. As much as he hated admitting it, he loved Kat just as much as her brother loved Edgar. And just like Edgar Kat felt the same way, but was much more open about his feelings than Andrew was.
Erick sighed, he wanted to break everyone out but he felt stuck, he couldn't send more crews in, he had already used every dirty cop that he could from Arkham, and he couldn't mount a full scale attack on the facility without a lot more people. With a sigh he looked at his watch and saw that he had been out there way too long, so he decided that he should let Kat go home. Erick leant down and kissed Kat gently and whispered.
"It's getting late Kat. You should get home, I don't want your dad mad at me again" Kat sighed and kissed Erick's cheek before whispering in his ear.
"I love you Erick" Erick sighed and leant down.
"I love you too" he said in a voice low enough that no one could hear. Kat smiled before walking away into the alley she came from.
Erick sat down on a crate next to him and looked out at Arkham Island. Silently he began to draw up a plan to help his friends.
