It was dark and quiet as a soft knock on the door broke the stillness of Kristoff's room. He remained in bed, the noise being too light to rouse him from his deep sleep. Having received no answer the door creaked open, a slit of candle light revealing Anna as the knocker.
"Kristoff?" she whispered.
He retorted with a snore and rolled over in his multiple sheets, undisturbed.
Desperate for a word with her lover, Anna crept into the room with her short candlestick at hand, casting a warm glow into the darkness.
As she tiptoed to the bed, the floor boards creaked and moaned, making Kristoff turn and moan again. Finally Anna reached him and after a deep breath, she wrapped her hands around his trunk of a neck.
Kristoff suddenly sat up in a roar, throwing Anna off his chest and onto the floor. He then bounded after her, sending his sheets flying, then stopped in his tracks as he noticed he was pining his better half to the ground.
The two stared into each other's eyes, frozen on the floor, until Anna burst out laughing and Kristoff sighed out of annoyed relief.
"Anna, why would you do that?" he said, rubbing his temples and getting up. "You know I'll attack you every time!"
"I'm sorry," she replied between giggles, "It's the only way I know I can wake you up! Nothing works unless you sense danger!"
"Couldn't this wait until morning?" He said exasperated, falling open armed onto the bare mattress.
"Not really..." Anna said, slightly embarrassed. She had gotten up and sat herself on the edge of the bed alongside Kristoff.
"Alright, what is it this time?" He replied, heaving himself onto the bed. He lied on his side as Anna told him of her still fresh adventure in the great hall.
"... So the guard escorted me here and next thing I know you've turned into a bear and you've pinned me to the floor."
"So... You went through all that... To get some more food?" Kristoff was dumbfounded by the idea.
"Well I'd hardly eaten because of all the guests, and you know how big my appetite is..."
"And THAT couldn't wait until morning either?"
"Ugh would you just stick to the problem please? I was ambushed by spies, and no one believes me!"
"That's because spies can't reach the chandeliers, they don't open windows without even touching them a row of armors doesn't just collapse without a reason." Kristoff smirked as he sat up next to Anna.
"Well then what would explain that all of that happened? The chandelier still exploded into a million pieces, the window is still open and the armors are spread out across the room!"
"Here's what I think: a link must have broken on the chandelier's chain -it is very old after all-, last night was very windy and when the window opened the gust of wind must have been strong enough to push over the suits as well."
"I think I'm going crazy, or else everyone else thinks I am..." Anna sulked and hid her face in her hands. Kristoff tried to comfort her by wrapping her in his arms.
"I get that this was very scary, I mean I'd probably end up being just as worried as you if all those things happened to me. I think you're just very tired, you stayed up too long, you're hungry and it's normal that your mind might need to make up an explanation for something like this. The chandelier couldn't have just decided to fall huh?"
Anna giggled and he continued, "What you need is some sleep, and tomorrow everything will be logical. We can even go remind those empty tin can excuses for armors who's the boss around here!" Kristoff tightened his grip on Anna at that as she giggled once more.
"You're right, I have been lacking sleep for the past few days..."
"That's what is it, and tonight certainly didn't help."
"Is it alright if I stay with you tonight though? You're a lot more comforting than my lonely room."
"Absolutely, there's plenty of room, and so long as you help me make the bed again," he said, noticing the all the various blankets sprawled across the floor.
