As I sit in the back of the class waiting for the teacher to get down to the V's on her roll call, I silently remind myself that I want this school year to be different. It's the first day of school and I'm not nervous I'm just curious about how this school year is going to go down.
I don't want to move schools again. Like the last one the teachers were actually starting to care about me and wanted to meet my father. When I told my brothers about this meeting they decided we should leave instantly. I mean how am I suppose to tell them that my father is dead an I have no idea who my mother was and I live with my seventeen year old twin brothers. It sounds worse then it actually is, my dad left behind forty-six million dollars for us and so far we've been able to keep under the radar. The school before that my powers got a little out of hand. Oh yeah I have powers and I have no idea where they came from. I can tell someone anything and they'll do it or believe it. I convinced a teacher at that school to dye his hair green and get piercings. When the principal found out he said I was "demon possessed" and I need go leave immediantly. Wonderful right!
This new teacher calls out Sage Valentine and I cooly raise my hand. Everyone's head turns back to get a glimpse of me. Great!! Suddenly there's whispering all over the room. Which means by lunch time there should be a dozen rumors going around the school. The teacher continues to read the last name while I put my headphones in and start listening to the Imagine Dragons. Time suddenly flies past and the lunch bell is ringing. I see the twins Samuel and Steven walking towards me with alert faces. They stop and say in unison
"I think it's time we tell you something"
" What do you mean you're not my brothers and that I'm a Demi-god", I practically yelled.
" Were satyrs your father adopted us when you were young to protect you and it means that your mother is
Hera" the twins calmly stated.
" Okay so what's going to happen know", I said with a quivering voice.
" A prophecy has been spoken. You being the only female daughter of Hera will have to travel to San Francisco and defeat the awful and horrid menautaur and cyclops before they tear down Mount Olympus and conquer the Gods and release the Titans" Samuel said as his face turned red.
" How will I know how to fight them?" I asked.
" We are meeting your mentor at the house tonight she will go with you but she can not fight for you" Steven announces.
Finally I'll get some real answers but then I had an epiphany.
" When does this journey start, in a year?" I say with no confidence in my words.
" You leave tomorrow morning" the boys whisper.
When we get home we walk in the living room and I see this gorgeous woman. She has long wavy hair with dark hazel eyes and pretty pink lips. The only thing that distracts from her beauty is the long scar on the side of her face. I wonder how she got it. When I finally realize that I'm staring I shake hands with her and reveal that her name is Gemini. She's twenty-seven years old and her father is Ares the god of war. She is my mentor.
" Boys so you have told her what's going to be happening right?" Gemini asks.
" Yes we did, she understands" Steven says.
" Okay then, Sage start packing I see no reason why we shouldn't leave tonight" Gemini ordered.
I instantly go to my room and pack a light suitcase shocked and put in a trance by the authority in Gemini's voice. I turn and look in the mirror and look at my grey eye and then my blue eye. I look at my curly brown hair. I look at my full lips and wonder when I come back will I have a scar on my face too. As I walk into the room the boys look a little teary eyed and we hug and wish our farewells to each other. Gemini and I walk to her camaro. I look back at the house and realize that this could be my last time looking at it. I try to sweep the pathetic and sad thoughts away but then Gemini makes an announcement that could change my life forever.
"The cyclops and menautaur will do anything to kill you. But keep fear out of your mind. Come on let's go. San Francisco here we come".
