"Six months..... it's been six whole months." Clemont stared into his black coffee that had grown cold.
Ever since Clemont had met Ash they had been so close, even when Ash left to continue his adventures they had been connected on every system possible. So when six months had gone by without so much as a text message, Clemont had been severely disappointed and upset. He had been worried out of his mind as well because of the torch he carried for Ash day by day, the flame never dying.
When a quick message online had come through from Ash, Clemont had read it 1000 times to absorb every word but it had held no clue to the previous lack of communication. Even now Clemont sighed and remembered the message: "Hey. Coming to Kalos soon. Will definitely come by Lumiose Gym, see you then. Ash:)"
Clemont had felt instantly relieved to know Ash was alright, then he felt a crash of anger and sadness to the impersonal words. Truthfully, Clemont had cried and that had been exhausting.
He drank down the bitter coffee that from consistently forgetting to drink it warm he had developed a taste for it cold. Clemont went through his blueprints again, then placed them in a file. He was ready to present at the Lumiose City Technology Summit that would take place in his own gym and he would be able to demonstrate his best invention yet to the highest minds of Science. Clemont didn't have time to reflect on Ash and the ache in his heart, now he had to advance his contribution to the world and the future of his Scientific career.
Clemont snapped out of his brooding as he heard the door open, he stood up.
"Hello?" His voice was annoyed at the intrusion. "The gym is closed, you shouldn't be here."
From the shadows a tall figure stepped closer, the head down and hidden by an old style League Expo hat. "Closed, huh? You won't accept a challenge even from an old friend?"
The deep male voice startled Clemont because he knew it resembled one he had known.
"A....Ash...?" Clemont took a step forward.
The figured grabbed the hat's brim and tipped it upward revealing Ash's smiling face.
Yet it was not the young, fresh face Clemont had seen six months ago; Ash had gone through a monumental change.
Clemont himself had hit puberty at 13 and went through his changes in several intervals until he had fully grown. He had been a thin, awkward young man but somehow after the changes he had a strong jaw and a tall, muscular frame.
He had always noticed that Ash was not going through any changes, he had been very much the same. Now though, Clemont took off his glasses and quickly cleaned them, then put them on to take in the new Ash before him.
Ash had grown to be close to 5' 10" and his torso looked solid with a slim form. His jawline was strong with even a light shadow of stubble, his mouth was still memorable, yet the full lips brought Clemont's pulse up to speed.
"Clemont." Ash met Clemont's wide gaze. "It's good to see you."
